If it means extra delays, I can't say I'm too bothered when safety is the number one priority. I'd rather wait a bit longer and not be ****ting myself at every firework that goes off. Having said that, extra checks could be annoying for anyone who likes to take a little 'chemical' motivation into the festival with them.

I was expecting something to be announced so it's good that it is happening. I am sure there will be a lot of advise around what not to do or bring  so we all need to abide by it to prevent any false alarms ruining the festival.

It will be interesting seeing what they have to say on this topic. I imagine that its not just the two horrendous attacks which have taken place in Manchester and London recently but also the alert at Rock AM in Germany which has led to them feeling there is a need to address the issue head on.

Nah, they're going to be looking for bigger things.  I doubt they'll have much time for dealing with drugs when they're trying to stop people from being stabbed or blown up.

Exactly. They're not going to be diving down into your bag looking for a few pills and some coke. I'd imagine the car stops won't always result in a search, they're just a frightener, and if someone starts get to get nervous or act suspicious then they're likely to poke a bit deeper.

Two daughters with Tickets, one been many times with me the other never been, anyway the newbie one pulled out after the Manchester terrorist attack, unfortunately  to late to get money back. Since the latest London attack her sister has also decided not to go. Tried to reassure them but they are adamant they won't go. So £400 ish wasted. My Glastonbury days are over, shame they won't go,as long as they don't come to Bank of Dad for reimbursement..lol

How are they going to handle getting around anywhere, as I presume they are not going to cross any bridges in future also?

I'd agree that this will make it easier not harder to get 'goodies' in. Previously the may have searched less people but more throughly, now they'll presumably have to search a lot more people but only to the point that they can confirm they don't have a serious weapon or worse. They won't have time to look any deeper.

This is a terrible terrible shame. In the midst of the chaos of the world surrounding us, i can't think of a happier and more reassuring place in the world to go than Glastonbury. I'm looking forward to it more this year than any before, mostly for they reasons

    • I saw that the payment method is contactless wristbands - I understand you collect them at the festival site and can top them up there as well? Yes, there are top up points, keep the recepe if you want to withdraw the money in the end   How much does food and drink usually cost at the festival? No offical info yet, but ussualy there are free festival buses from Ljubljanica to festival site, with few stops on the way.
