Other than Glastonbury where else could they go?

Reading/Leeds, IOW, Latitude have all announced. They're not doing Download. The likes of Kendall would be too small for them. APE doesn't fit their schedule. BST are unlikely to have them back after last time...

Only viable alternatives could be Rize (if that's even still a thing), TRNSMT (which wouldn't stop them playing elsewhere) or a one off gig somewhere like Finsbury Park.

Several bits of info pointing to them doing APE, with some of them even coming after it became apparent it wouldn't fit in with their tour schedule.

Think it's Glasto plus either APE or nothing else.

Why would bst not want them back? Didn’t they have to reduce tickets to £2.50. I’m kinda worried it’s gonna be like arctic monkeys last year where trnsmt ended up being the only uk festival they did

They wouldn't have them back because they sold so poorly they were effectively giving tickets away just to fill the venue. I think BST has shifted towards things that are guaranteed to sell - heritage rock acts and pop superstars.

If we end up with Stormzy, The Strokes and The Cure,  I honestly think it could be argued that IOW has a better set of headliners.

All good for us chumps in club resale though I guess

You know there’s a good chance two of IoW’s headliners will be subbing Glasto / headlining Other this year, and the other one subbed in 2017? Ffs

Something I'd forgotten about that BST gig was that I'd picked up a load of tickets for £2.50 then I actually won another 4 in a radio competition (my suspicion was that there were a few winners that day). Sold the four to a tout for about 30 quid, which paid for my ticket and beer that night.

Wouldn't APE involve them coming over to play then going back to America?

Yeah that's what I meant by it not fitting in with their schedule, but there have apparently been two people over the last few days who've reiterated that they're headlining it. Maybe they could still be going off outdated info. Who knows?

Oh yeah, I remember now...

Looks more like wishful thinking to me. I probably paid no attention cos The 1975 are shite.

Looking through her tweets the other night I doubt it's wishful thinking. The only band I remember seeing that she's into is Leftfield, but there certainly wasn't much to suggest she'd be a big fan of The 1975.

I think there's quite often one Latitude headliner at Glastonbury but I'm not sure if there's ever been more than one. Let's hope for Lana rather than George Ezra but I wouldn't be surprised if none of them played.

Says on the eFests report that LDR is an exclusive, so I guess she's out of the running.

I suppose if the money's right they'd do it.

Imagine thinking Noel Gallagher, George Ezra and Biffy Clyro is a better trio than anything, never mind one involving The Cure.

I don't think that all. I think 5 of the 6 acts are utter shite.

I can tell you watching The Cure is like watching paint dry. Have you ever seen them?

    • Reading all the feedback with interest.  If there are now 75,000 tickets officially sold, plus who knows how many more people blagging in - then on the Friday evening and Saturday in particular, it's not ridiculous to suggest there's 50,000 people at Mordor, which is a stadium gig - except with much worse sight lines, an inferior PA, and far less bars and toilets. The Thursday evening in 2022 was of course infamous but on the Friday night for Beck I was trapped about 150m from the stage, surrounded by chatters, and with no prospect of getting nearer the stage.  With hindsight that was when I realised the fest had one way or another fundamentally changed.  Also noting on Reddit that some folk didn't enjoy the Cure or Gorillaz because the sets were "too long".  In future bands may be better received if they actually just play their top 10 Spotify songs then get back off the stage.
    • Has Glastonbury already got council permission for that 5 year run?
    • This keeps being mentionned but it only happened because Dua's Europe Tour was rescheduled due to Covid. Dua's arena show was initially planned for October 2021 but got rescheduled to May 2022 a month after the PS2022 lineup was announced.   I hope Massive Attack and Doja get to come back. I guess it'll depend whether they have a summer tour planned next year.
    • Solo album on the way for the singer of a certain band.  Il leave the name of the act out and see if anyone listening can guess....  its er rather obvious lol
