For beck i was surrounded by people angrily waiting for Coldplay in silence.

Coldplay fans impatiently and pointedly tapping their inert readytoflash wristbands.

TBH I can't imagine Coldplay fans getting angry. I assumed they're all a bit Stepford Wivesish.

So what you're saying is Radiohead are back to headline again this year?

Yes. Subbing the Strokes.

Ah, it's 2002 and everything's right with the world

Hahaha. Yeah, nobody complained actually. Lots of huffing and looking at watches. I think one person said ‘I am looking forward to Coldplay. I think they will be good. I hope they arrive on stage on time but don’t stay on too late as I’m going to bed after this’.

Sorry if this is annoying but can someone take the time out and reply to me with the actual evidence that Nick Grimshaw said the Stroked

all I’ve seen is people saying they’d heard him mention it on the radio

He said it 2 days in a row, the one I heard is on this below (the 2nd of the two days he said it I think). He says it very early on so you shouldn't have to listen too long

I actually think I could have a chance in the re sale.

Same.

Not really fussed about any of these rumoured headliners. Unless they get Madonna, which I doubt.

In fact I'd much rather they followed Coachella's lead and gave Tame Impala a bump up over a washed up Strokes. they were excellent in the sub slot in 2016 and have a new record coming which is out before the summer supposedly.

Upvoted for listening to Radio 1 two days on the bounce.

Hahaha no no I can't take that credit. I only listened the 2nd day and that was on iPlayer. Someone else mentioned it on here which led me to listen back as I'm in the minority who would absolutely love to see The Strokes there

FWIW, I prefer it how@Matt42 refers to them: 'The Stroked'.

Radiohead won't play the Pyramid as the PA/speaker system isn't to their liking apparently.

For what it’s worth, for a while I actually believed that one lol.

“I have heard a hot rumour that the strokes are going to be performing at glastonbury”

did we just gloss over that? He didn’t mention headlining at all.

unless he mentioned it again on the other day

We connected that with some news someone got on here that they were headlining with The Cure and Stormzy and how low the odds are which have seemed back ages ago. If they play, they headline.

No that has been mentioned, Neil mentioned it again earlier as well when I asked if he thought they'd headline

The headline bit came from someone on here who heard (prior to Macca being ruled out) that it was Stormzy, The Strokes and The Cure from someone who works for a big promoter

It's been mentioned multiple times that he didn't say headlining.

As DandyB said (great username by the way, gonna whack SIAS on now!), I would be very shocked if Strokes agreed to play but not headline. They pretty much only do festivals now to get the cash in, i.e. Gov Ball. I don't think they'll be arsed otherwise, I'm sure they've been asked before but not to headline and they've turned it down.

Thank you. Have an up-vote xxx

People tried to say the same about The Cure. That the bassist’s (don’t start) daughter only said they were playing Glastonbury. They eventually saw sense though.

    • Pretty sure some will be more than that.
    • It's a shame for lots of bands cancelling tours due to poor ticket sales but I'm one of the culprits as I'll wait now closer to the time as theres always a chance of a seat filler or Twickets for half the price. If the bands charged a reasonable price to start with then they'll sell out regardless. Look at Paul Heaton, £39+fees tickets for arenas where some bands are charing £150+fees for the same arena. Prices for drinks in those places is a joke too so many pick and choose.
    • Might just wait it out for the summer shows that got mentioned tbh
    • Good on him i think, though it depends on whether he really does love the music (like Steve Davis) or is just moving into it as a bizarre career option (Gok Wan, from the ten mins i observed from the side of a field once, stood there with no idea whats going on)
    • Better Man, Black maybe. I guess was the same for Metaliica.   They do have a history of bringing on some big guests, for example Pete Townsend and play Who numbers. My gut is they would prob pull it off but they'd get a section of crown leave after a bit. I don't see it happen even though I'd love it.    Other Stage would be immense.   I seem to remember Emily Eavis watching at a Wembley arena night and if it was regular gig with more random unknown fan favourite songs she saw she prob thought not suitable for Pyramid.
