Gambino only subbing Bonnaroo...surprised by that gives a sub at Glastonbury a bit more scope but I just reckon he'll be picked up exclusive for Wireless.

He'll play after it gets dark during traditional headliner time, and phish will close the stage but won't start till after 11PM

I don't think that makes it any better phish are still playing 3 sets on two different days and Lumineers is an utterly awful headliner, I did like then when they came out but my god they aren't that level.

The Americans said the same about Kasabian.

Well to be honest in America they were correct, the difference here is that The Lumineers played lower down lineups in both places and are now suddenly a headliner over there, Kasabian did actually get to headliner level at a major festival here a long time ago.

In fairness as well, indie rock if you like has never really been seen as that big in America. I'm sure they also referred to Biffy Clyro for a while as a shit Foo Fighters until they eventually were still playing that far down over there that it wasn't worth them doing it and there is almost no chance bar Coachella I'd say they been seen as an option to book and Coachella wouldn't try now I doubt.

The Lumineers headlined Okechobee 2 yrs ago. They subbed a bunch of fests in north America the year before also (osheaga, bottlerock) .

They're releasing a new album this year... I dont find it surprising at all that they're headlining bonnaroo, a fest that has phish playing 3 sets.

Also indie rock is alive and well in north America... just because one specific very Scottish rock band doesn't do well I don't think that speaks to all of America?

Well, bloody hell!

I don't think it really matters about the Scottish band, look at the American Festivals this year, indie rock isn't that resent, it's dying in the UK so I'd expect America to be shot.

Lumineers are much bigger over there than over here. I’m going to take the word of our resident Canuck* on this.

*Really hope that word isn’t offensive to Canadians, don’t think it is.

Is there a source for this? Can't find anything!

The only thing people call us that offends us is "American" ?

I repeat: The Lumineers are not headlining Bonnaroo

Phish is playing "Late Night" on the main stage on friday, and doing a normal headlining show (2 sets) Sunday

The lumineers will have wrapped up their set by 7:30PM

I was going off the fact that the stages go late... last year on the Saturday Bon Iver did 2 DJ sets... one at 10pm and one at 12am, with Eminem headlining from 11-12. I thought it would be a similar set up seeing as Phish's DJ sets are the Sunday. That's just how it looks to me

They released a single in Dec, and they were apparently working on a new album during the Cleo tour. I read something somewhere but no idea where.

I stumbled across this.  I was at a couple of these which myself and the rest of the crowd seemed to disagree somewhat with their conclusions, also am I alone in having a traditional definition of headliner (which some of these clearly weren't)?

In fairness Oasis deserve to be top. They were bloody awful! Comfortably the worst headline set I've seen at any festival.

Too many entries on that list are just having a pop at the acts rather than whether their performance was any good.

Skrillex headlining the Other Stage in 2014 was a fucking triumph as far as I'm concerned

To be fair, if you asked most of Efests who the worst headliners of recent times are, most of the answers would be nothing to do with performances on the night and everything to do with how naff the acts are e.g. Mumford & Sons, Coldplay

My description of Skrillex that night was ... shit music .. great lightshow  but my 3 other friends all seemed to enjoy the set

There was nothing sophisticated about the music or the technical skill in the transitioning of tunes, it was a mix of EDM and dubstep (accompanied by Sonny's screechy shouting) which some would argue is lowest common denominator electronica. It made me dance, the atmosphere was fantastic and the production was good so I thought it was great fun. Everyone around me seemed to agree

Mumfords were shite though. I enjoyed Coldplay's sets more than I thought I would (although not enough to make me feel better about missing LCD).

Certainly it's what I think of when people refer excitedly on here and elsewhere to whether they could reform and play this year, but I've defo seen worse than that, although in some cases acts I just got bored of and others have raved about here.  (eg. Springsteen and Kanye).

Yes, agree very much, for example myself and everyone in my vicinity loved that White Stripes set.  Having read since of Meg's anxiety I feel lucky to have seen her before that became too much.

As I recall, that's very high up on their best performances list, which as @The Martini Police said would not go down well here :D

Yeah, Bonnaroo does a lot of unique things with scheduling. In this case, Sunday is excluded from the going late thing because it's the last day of the fest.

Also, just for the record, Phish doesn't do DJ sets...2 sets just means they will play for about 75 minutes, take a break, then come back and play for another 90

    • It can take around 30-45 mins to walk from the arena back to the transport hub with the crowds, depending on density. Allow even longer in poor conditions. I don't think you'd need to leave Linkin Park early though, you have at least an hour and 20 minutes to walk to transportation. I certainly wouldn't leave early in your shoes, knowing I can just walk to the airport if needs be (2 mile walk and another 30 - 45 min walk depending on your walking speed and conditions.) Maybe just don't linger too long for the toilet / food after Linkin Park have finished.  It will definitely make sense and all just fall into place on the night, don't worry too much and have a great time. The very worst that can happen is a little extra walking to the Airport Skylink bus stop, as those Skylink busses are 100% 24 hour. 🙂  GFS, ICON and ECMWF are ALL in agreement on the latest runs.... After a mildly moist Weds and Thurs, high Pressure building from Friday... Lets just hope they continue to agree... ☀️☀️☀️
