Did Damon just shout out Block 9?

The plot thickens...

They do set designs for quite a lot of tours and such. They put together Skrillex's spaceship for example.

Just googled it, and they did design Gorillaz' current stage design... But maybe an indicator?

if the current show was played on the Pyramid a few years back, it would be remembered much better than it is now.

I was thinking this whilst watching them at the Brixton the other night. Just a completely different experience to the last time I saw them.

I saw them at the Roundhouse a couple of months before glasto in 2010 and the crowd all brought into the zero interaction and tightly structured show - it was superb way of experiencing the music and visuals and one of my favourite gigs from recent times.

The current show however is a lot looser, the band seem to have been handpicked to represent the characters and it's all a lot more anarchic - probably a lot closer to Hewlett's original vision of Gorillaz.

So yes, if this show had rocked up to the farm 7 years ago we'd probably be talking about it in a very different way.

Nailed it there mate. I was thinking that the other day in St Albans. Seye came rocking out for the encore without a shirt on, and busted out the bassline to Feel Good Inc. I immediately thought "That is actually Murdoc"

Ooof. The crowd are well up for this. Better than the headliner tourists who decided they didn't like Gorillaz music after they turned up to see them.

Are you talking about when they played Glastonbury?

If so it seems a weird thing to compare

I know it seems like we're all chatting shit about random stuff on here, but it all comes back to Glastonbury in the end. Even in normal life, I'll compare the most inappropriate things to Glastonbury. Like when it rains on a Thursday but clears up for the weekend, I'll say "that's so 2008"

    • They are going to have Blink 182 for sure, early June upto around Werchter weekend I'd say for them. Two of Sweden Rock,  Greenfield and RFP are going to miss out.
    • I've come across a few this weekend saying Deftones aren't big enough for Download.   I would recommend b&b hotel hbf the night before....cheap, comfortable and very decent. Within 10 minutes from the station and a tram stop outside to jump on...all travel is free during the festival time as well with a kombi. Lidl is very good and cheap I can't lie....€6 for a chair with carey handle, €20 with a bag too...you can work that out yourself.   If you camp, get up at 5am and go to the queue....literally don't question it as now I know.     The travel wise part is easy when you get the hang of it and I've never had an easier exit from a festival today tbh. We were camped in the turn left section but past the registration and to get water you have to come right out.   Opening up an exit through he camp at least by Friday morning when everyobe is there would be much better but you csnt walk through general if you're green and sonon.   I think the issue for me probably too is I have never taken like a mutliple litre water too, I've always done a 6 pack water from like poundland lol but you definitely need it. I had one shower that was cold lol   Talking of getting into the front, Volbeat was the only easy one, for Maiden and especially Linkin Park if you weren't in the queue for it by at least the last quarter ot Architects you had no hope....it was shocking. I do like orbit to sit down. I had to decide to sack off Within Temptation too or no chance.   Second stage biggest gripe is the faff of walking all the way round when VIP or whatever it is literally get access to each bit. I did read tbh before going people though RIP/Ring was turning too much the wrong way.   Also as a side note, caught some of Limp Bizkit last night too and they are not headliner but any distance at all. Yes they pull a crowd...they would do with LP finished but on the grand scale its a super weak booking. Stop, start for video recordings all the way through a headline set?, 1hr 15 minutes and you can't play for that time. I'm so glad they were not chosen to headline main.   On another thing, if RIP played it right they'll get GC and Avril to sub/second stage headline on the Blink day.   Toilets and cleanliness is a big plus I will say that.
    • Any of the likes of Keo, Basht. and Cardinals could all fit in here.  Although they’re the sort of bands that could fit many of the stages at Glastonbury
    • Glasto loves a come back act - how about the Rapture?
    • Yeah mentioned in the park thread but feel more Woodsies to me
