Canned beers

Great to see so much love for Tribute and St Austell Brewery here - I live a stone's throw from the brewery so always smile when I see it getting attention from far and wide.

Was the Cornish Arms there last year? I wasn't sure it was...but that could be down to beer consumption.

How did you find out its running until 24th May? If so, I'm tempted to stock up, but the pennies saved now may be obliterated by my urge to drink them in the next month! Should I stay or should I go...

Apologies if this has already been posted but if you have cans stick em under your tent touching the floor over night, it'll help to cool them down. The other classic trick is a small tub filled with water which will help in the day time.

If you stick a piece of cloth or sponge half in/out of the water line this will keep the water temperate in the bucket lower, although this gets less effective when in high humidity.

How do you manage that though, must be tricky not to spill the water out whilst walking around?

I looked them up online to make sure I wrote the correct ones and it had the promotion listed on there : http://www.tesco.com/groceries/specialoffers/specialofferdetail/?promoId=A31927328

I was just looking at those, also probably going to get a keg of summer lightning from waitrose, seems to be the cheapest place to get it at £18 for 5 litres.

Real ale wise, I'm a big fan of cans of Tribute. 4.2%, still tastes fine when it's been in your bag for a while, and although not the cheapest ale, isn't too costly. If you're in or around Cornwall, you may be able to get cans of it fairly cheaply in your local supermarket/offy. If not you can get it delivered from the brewery.

We've also taken polypins of Doom Bar in the past to keep at base camp. Survives the sunshine surprisingly well, and makes a fine breakfast drink!

With 'craft beers', in previous years it's been more difficult to get them in cans rather than bottles, but they're increasingly available in the familiar cylindrical metal container. My picks for last year, based on taste when warm and affordability, were:

• Brewdog Dead Pony - 3.8% APA so perfect session strength, great citrussy taste (even when warm), and cheap for a craft beer - now £5.46 for 4 in Morrisons
• Thwaites Crafty Dan 13 Guns - 5.5% American IPA, more classic tasting hoppyness, tastes good away from the fridge and again good value - 4 for £6 in Morrisons
• Beavertown Bloody 'Ell - 7.2% Blood Orange IPA, delicious orangey goodness and at that strength enormously good fun, although you don't want to be carrying too many of these around if you want to last the day - £2.70 from BeerMerchants. Beavertown's whole range is great tbh, save for the disappointing session strength Neck Oil.

There are now lots of new craft beers this year. Vocation brewery's stuff in particular is all fantastic, passes the warm can test, and some of it is now on at 4 for £6 in Tescos.

I'll be taking some Beavetown brewery down with me. Probably Gamma Ray

I have three lovely cases of Tribute locked on the garage since yesterday . 

Question is can I resist the temptation to dip in before I get to Bearded Theory on Thursday .
