Though if they release the full line up and people love it then it might reduce the number of tickets returned and therefore lower my friends chances of getting tickets in this final resale...

but i think that was largely due to the third headliner obviously not being booked until late on and therefore delaying everything. no such problem this year so i'd imagine we'll get the full lineup minus stage times earlier this year, unless they liked how it all went last year and stick with it

In a way I did enjoy the stage-by-stage announcements last year and think they should be kept. But I want them now!

In fact I think they should be extended to all stages, main stages included. One a day all the way up to the Pyramid.

Are we expecting any "bigger" acts to be added? I can't remember what acts were added to the final poster last year in relation the the first release.

Last year it didn't include the 'main' stages (Pryamid, Other, JP and Park), and I doubt it will again this year.

I've lost the link to the post that detailed all the additions but the 'big' acts were the likes of; Courteneers, Cribs, Everything Everything, James Bay, Burt Bacharach, Twin Atlantic.

we got the likes of Burt Bacharach, The Courteeners and some others in last years second poster, so stuff of that level could still come, but nothing huge

No they didn't, but the idea of stage-by-stage announcements for the smaller stages was great IMO, and I think they should extend this to main stages too. Probs won't be this year, or at all, just throwing it out there as an idea. I would still like the announcements, however they manage it, to start coming ASAP after resales though!

yep i'd love if they did something like a stage announcements every other day, the stages getting bigger with each one until they finally got to The Park > John Peel > West Holts > Other Stage > Pyramid

Exactly like this works for me.

On a vaguely related note every year i get to the festival and sit down to read the programme, I always think to myself can you imagine not knowing any of the line up and simply finding out for the first time having arrived through the gate. I know it would never happen, and of course non-announcements would be an absolute killer, however I can imagine everybody would be at fever pitch on the way in!

yep, they'll be plenty.

For example, I know only 1/3rd of the West Holts line-up has been announced. There's probably about 2/3rds of Pyramid be4en announced, and something between 2/3rds and 1/3 for Other and West Holts.

Plus of course all the other stages.

Yes I'm aware of that. I've given a few details purposely because 1. I don't want people searching for the articles and clicking off efestivals and potential clicking non-efests affiliate links. 2. Despite loving the essential freedom from normal life that Glastonbury (and a couple of other festivals, to be fair) gives me, not knowing the line-up pre-arrival would be an absolute nightmare for me. An integral part of my enjoyment is based upon the ability to create an unlikely, seemingly almost unachievable itinerary of activities...and then achieve the lot! Despite my ridiculous obsession with packing that much in, there is still ample time for doing all of the other more free-styled stuff - bimbling in the night-time between must-see DJs, sunrise at the Stone Circle a few times, stumbling across entirely unbidden, extraordinary stuff.

I love Wednesday and Thursday because they are the calm pre-cursor to my Fri-Sun storm. If I had to spend much of those days undertaking the weeks of meticulous planning that I do post-full-lineup-release, it would be a 'mare!

Yeah I don't know why people talk about the lineup being announced as you go through the gates as being a good thing. You'd miss so much you wanted to see because the lineup is too vast to study/remember whilst actually at the festival. It might be ok for people who stick to the main few stages but not for people who like smaller artists.

Oh I couldn't agree more, I love listening to acts I don't normally listen to, trying to build an itinerary etc. it's all part of the fun. In practice I don't think I would actually enjoy not finding out until I was through the gates, I think I just think in theory it would be amazing if you know what i mean.
