Ok so who has a festival Hat? we all must have one or buy one every year.

 

I have my tried and trusted Trilby 

 

I have a friend who has a sailor hat , what is your choice of millinery?

I'm on the lookout for a new one as my last one disintegrated in the rain at IOW in 2012. I like a straw cowboy hat (as above).

Anyone else remember the trend in the mid-90s of bright floppy jesters caps and top-hats? Oh, the mid-90s...

To me, that is a festival hat. All other styles are just hats that get worn at festivals.

The decline of the jester's hat marks the general trend towards the festival losing what used to make it special.

Being a folically challenged gentleman hats are very important to me in the summer. I plan to take a selection. Can't go too far wrong with a straw trillby. However I may don a flat cap if the mood takes me. Then finally there is my tried and tested foam dome.

Mine ended up in a skip on the Saturday I think. It had lost all its molecular integrity & was like trying to wear a damp cardboard box

My now very faded once dark blue bucket hat has seen many a festival and still going strong, with the odd badge and Who patch added over the years.

Thanks for the reminder - I must buy a new straw hat of some ilk for this year's festival. The old one has bitten the dust.

And of course a woolly hat for those cold evenings you get when it's been hot, sunny, clear blue skies all day.

Last year I only had baseball caps and looked like a lost golfer, so hit the antique and charity shops this year. Came up with this little beauty. might be decorated a bit pre June.

I have received a Mongolian hat from a friend that I will have to wear for the entirety of the festival. It does sod in preventing the sun from hitting my face and neck.
