She's...brilliantly honest and funny and real and that's what everybody loves about her. She's a great example because she doesn't put up any pretense.

I'd find her more honest if she just once actually thanked the people who write her fucking songs.

What do people have against the Brit School that they dont against art school or a classical music conservatoire? Maybe they would like all our actors and other entertainers from Eton instead?

I think, to be more accurate, they want them from Abingdon School.

Brits school has never produced anyone of the slightest interest to my very wide and varied musical tastes and very much doubt it ever will its the worst kind of Simon Cowellesque, media hyped and airbrushed of all guts and heart (Adele, Rizzle Kicks, The Feeling, The Kooks etc etc ) the many are welcome too it as its all they seem to want, just leaves me cold, Thom Yorke, Ian Curtis, Neil Tennant, Shaun Ryder etc cant "sing" for toffee but entertain me far more than any of these production line acts will, as for being on a TV near me quite alot again I doubt it looking at the list of Brit alumni listed on wikipedia, bar the actress Cush Jumbo and Actor Tom Hardy, anyone else listed I avoid like the plague but thats just my opinion which means no more or less than anyone elses.

I don't think a school that is providing free and inspirational tuition for young actors, dancers and singers who can't afford decent training deserve to be slagged off, it's a bit mean spirited.

I think there's a misconception about the place that it's an expensive private school for posh kids, when it's not like that at all.

Maybe it does produce some decent music however none of it is yet to come to my notice, as  for Sheeran couldnt agree more cant stand him, think Frank Turner is 10 times the artist, cant believe he sells out Wembley Arena let alone the Stadium 3(?) times over. `

Frank Turner went to Eton. If you're so concerned about artists' schooling surely that's worse?

The whole "lack of female headliners" thing, I'm not sure I get it. Do people really think there is a male-bias? I'm pretty sure that Glastonbury would have booked a female as a headliner if they were popular enough, cheap enough and just as importantly, available at that particular time. Which other female acts/artists could have headlined over the years that meets that criteria?

That aside (there's probably a thread for that subject), I think Adele would/will be a triumph. Not my thing, and I'll be elsewhere but I fully expect to get home on the Monday after and read how well received the show was.

Emily covers this very well in the interview, if you could be bothered to read it:

'I think it goes beyond just festivals and right back to labels and radio support. Obviously we're choosing from, particularly for the major stages, bands at a certain level and it's really important that those bands are women, and that they're nurtured from the start in the same way that men are. We spend a lot of time looking at bands to chose from but we're just presented with so many male acts. And I think that's because it goes back to finding less women, radio playing less women and then, as a result, agents sending us more men [...] So it's really important for us to be at the forefront of booking women, addressing it so it's completely equal. Because it is hard, to be honest. Even this year, when we've consciously tried to book as many female acts on the main stages, it's still almost impossible to do because there aren't as many female acts at that level [...] There are a lot of old school men in music, particularly in the live industry. It's quite obvious when you look at a list of all the booking agencies, there really are only a handful of women. It's very male dominated and, yeah, I feel really strongly about it because obviously my background is working in this world with a hell of a lot of men on the industry side.'

I think I read the Wu-Tang Clan all met at Havard, ODB and Raekwon struck up a friendship over their shared love of chess playing. Didn't see you lot complainig when they were on the Pyramid.

Cash rules everything around them, apparently.

Given I'm at the stage of pretending Adele doesn't exist, to go back to a more interesting point in the thread;

Wolf Alice is a better slot this time eh? Enough info to move from from an R on the rumours page yet Neil?

Their gig at The Park last year was a highlight, would be a big win to get them back again this year

Social media and round the clock news reporting actually make it far harder these days to perpetuate a facade.

On the flip side, you now have all of those tools to help you create one.
