Radiohead touring in 2016

How can Thom Yorke be pissed off like fans at London tickets that thousands missed out on when they only put 9,900 on sale in a tiny venue......with no hint that touts will not be able to sell them on?

what the hell are you talking about? there were huge anti tout measures in place - that you could only buy 2 tickets and that the lead booker had to have ID with them and the second person had to come along with them - but obviously they overlooked that touts would be willing to walk in to the venue with the person they've overcharged by £900

as for only a small amount of tickets being on sale - it's a goddamn intimate tour to preview the album undoubtedly before the big one next year, just like tons and tons of bands do. Radiohead just happen to be a hell of a lot more popular than most of those bands hence why so many people have been left disappointed

As I've said, my RH source is a solid source with a 100% record going back for the best part of a decade, who has given me just one tip in just some years, and these have included accurate RH info in the past. Because of that solid history, I'm certainly not going to dismiss what he's said without solid evidence.

However, everything else RH I've heard this year has been in the other direction, of them not playing .... and this sort of info has supposedly come from people who've seen stage listings, as well as someone claiming a direct and close link to the band.

It's pretty unusual for info not verified from other directions about a major band to be right .... tho that has been the case previously with the RH source.

Anyway ......

I've just had the first bit of - supposedly - confirming info, that they might be playing. :)

The info is a little tenuous - it certainly can't be fully trusted by itself - but there's still reason to think that it might be genuine and accurate. Then again, it might just be someone stringing along his mates, perhaps even using what's said on here as the basis of what he says.

All the same, it's the first bit of supposedly confirming info, and from the direction of someone who there's reason to think might know the real deal.

For a start I never said 'most people'. It's not an overwhelming majority, but it's certainly the sentiment from a certain section of fans.

Also, it's not necessarily a case of 'appeasing' people (bad choice of words on my part), it's a case of booking a well rounded lineup to appeal to a wide range of people. There's clearly a significant group of people disappointed that Radiohead aren't headlining and those people tend not to be Adele fans, so booking Radiohead before Adele would please everyone.

As long as there's word Radiohead will appear (which there is) and there is no concrete name rumoured to playing the sub spot on Saturday, it's entirely possible.

The Dream never dies.

THE DREAM IS ALIVE! I dont suppose you've had any word on where they were in these stage listings? If they're in the stage listings does that mean they'll be listed as playing, or are the listings floating about now different from what we'll get i.e. Secret set acts listed instead of being referred to as 'secret sets' (you probably don't know any of this - just thought I'd squeeze out as much as possible)

Well that's good enough for me. Neil - could you divulge if it's going to be an announced a lot or not?

reading between the lines of what I've been told it sounds like it would be an announced set - if what I've heard today is true, of course.

they've not been in the stage listings at all, from what I've heard via someone who has supposedly seen stage listings. However, I do know that incomplete &/or inaccurate (cos the band doesn't sign after all) listings float around, so their absence on those I can't take as definitive.

If true then I can pretty much only see it being a Pyramid set, probably as a sub - anything else would be utter chaos. The roller coaster ride begins again. My poor heart

As bizarre as it sounds.. they could be subbing (probably Adele).

Do you think there is a possibilty of them headlining the other stage and Bmth or LCD are out? Yes, I know about safety, but there will be a lot of people wanting to see the headliners?

Radiohead subbing Adele, or headlining the Other vs Muse, Adele or Coldplay? That'd be a laugh.

Sounds odd, but if they were to headline other vs One of those 3 - I imagine it would be manageable crowd wise....

I would be gutted if I was headlining Park or WH though. There would be bugger all there

- Didnt the press release re: Roundhouse say they were the only uk "Headlining Shows of 2016"? Or have I made that up?

If they release the new record shortly before the festival then their set would be showcasing the new album and they could take a set shorter than a headline one if they wanted. Like the TKOL set at the Park but it obviously makes more sense for them to be on the Pyramid, especially since they know the demand for tickets to see them.

If they end up subbing they would get 75 minutes, if not a bit more given the unusual circumstances of having a headliner not headlining. I reckon they'd do 5-6 new tunes which would leave 45 minutes or so for a few older songs.

Even if they play all of the new album, which would be unusual on the Pyramid stage, it would still leave room for a fair number of older tracks.

Why sub tho? Before the biggest artist in the world surely would be bigger than, say, four hours earlier - or the same anyway.

I still need to see it to believe it, really. I hope it isn't the above because fuck me that'd be shit.

    • Yeh, the quiet camping also seems to be on the same side (broadly) as the bits of the festival that go on the latest (Far Out / Chai Waalahs / RTT until 4am). We're always in Tangerine Fields which is right behind the main stage and as soon as that and Rising Stage are done it's pretty quiet (midnight onwards) which I'd guess is pretty similar if you can hack taking all your gear from the car past the big tree in the middle and into the campsites that side.
    • Can't see Bimble line up anywhere - am I being dense and missing an obvious release somewhere?
    • Not expecting a tour imminently but Peter Gabriel would fit the vibes magnificently.
    • I have but a very long time ago and can remember nothing about it at all. Which I suppose is a review of sorts
    • Addison Rae has 33m instagram followers, Slayyyter 667k. Also 15 to 7,5 million spotify listeners with Addison's last release being more than a year ago. Obviously these metrics aren't everything, but still there is a big gap in popularity between the two.
