Radiohead touring in 2016

wish all these festivals were just a little further away from Glastonbury, because those are some awesome lineups that Radiohead are topping elsewhere in Europe

Can't go to the big G this year. It'd be soul destroying if they played and I wasn't there!

2017 I can only hope they do.

It was reported on 6 music. Said she "hoped to" reveal some. Probably won't like.

Thanks Claire but as I'm still very much on the fence I think there's people who have been steadfast since October that deserve help more :) If I can find an alternative I like I may well do that. Just annoying as Primavera would have been perfect.

Nos looks alright but not a lot of line up out yet. Definitely an option.

Isn't the lineup normally out before the resale? The initial poster has been out before the resale the last two years.

Usually, but it seems pretty late this year. They've not even released anything yet at all... Could be something similar to 2013 though where nothing is announced until late march, when they release everything. Which I would kinda prefer

Edit: I can't get @Gnomicide's Thingy to work.

Edit Edit: Ooo, yeah, it's up and pround and working now. And positively throbbing with info.

Maybe it was a record label link then, I can't remember the exact wording - was from a rather drunk walk home in the early hours of this morning (or maybe it's just bollocks)

Haven't you got form on here for being an absolute bellend?

Apologies if not.

haha I don't think so - this is the first time I've actually posted in a good few months and I don't think I've ever been particularly conspicuous on here.

Not enough positivity regarding the likelyhood of Radiohead playing! They were always one of my favourites given a new album was due - the only stumbling block being the lack of gig announcements.  Now they've announced Euro festival dates either side of Glasto, AND we've had word from the guy at the christmas party, AND now from the ex manager.

Its happening! Nailed on I'd say! B)

It has been mentioned a few times that 2018s headliners have been booked too...

So there's a fair chance rumours about some bands headlining might filter through when in fact they're doing next year.

Given that Radiohead will likely be touring this autumn in Europe and may well do Asia/South America next year (no specific rumours there, just following on from what would be expected), a headline performance next year once they've honed their live show and their album is more firmly embedded in fans minds might be what they have planned...

Interesting to note that there's been some kinda announcement in February going all the way back to 2008.

Edit - apart from 2013, that kinda blows a hole in my theory

First rule of thingy club is not to try and decipher any sort of announcement pattern. It only leads to inevitable disappointment.

Finding patterns in the thingy is the same as inventing new slots. See the "Queens of the Stone Age Slot", the "Motorhead slot" or the "Friday afternoon hip hop slot".

I like the "Friday morning bigger than you'd expect at that time on the Other stage act to compensate for the inevitable disappointment of the preceding secret opener" slot.

    • Addison Rae has 33m instagram followers, Slayyyter 667k. Also 15 to 7,5 million spotify listeners with Addison's last release being more than a year ago. Obviously these metrics aren't everything, but still there is a big gap in popularity between the two.
    • Seems like the most obvious choice. Surprised they havent played since 2019 either.

    • Yep it was on my list, id have loved to have gone.
    • Am a relative amateur in the ticket/tech shenanigans and not part of a large group etc. but personally preferred the F5 bashing approach and got through twice in recent yrs (plenty when didn't, mind) - 2023 but it crashed on me at the final hurdle and then again in 2024 where I held my nerve when it crashed again and managed to get.  Think now I am committed to volunteering if doing festivals as that's close to my heart, so happy to help others when the time comes round.   The most impressive I've seen was bus sales in 2022 when 2 mates casually bagged tickets while in San Sebastian, on a phone inside the stadium during a Real Sociedad v Man Utd game!
