I'm looking at doing a masters either in Nottz or Manc and atm this Cure gig is seriously swaying things in Manc's favour

Manchester's got its flaws, but it's fucking great for gigs. My experience of Nottingham is not positive.

So basically, Nottingham is the GloboGym Purple Cobras, and Manchester is Average Joe's?

Somewhat except we're the ones who play in purple. The Nottingham guys aren't as dominate as the Purple Cobras either, they only finished 3rd overall at the Uni championships. They actually train though whereas we're just a gang of mates who like to get pissed and throw balls at each other

Any standing Manchester tickets, please let me know.

If you go on the TicketFactory website linked from The Cure's website tour listings, it seems to me you can pick up standing tickets. I haven't gone right through so it might be a herring but you can add them to your cart and stuff. Hope that helps.

gave it a try and it definitely takes you straight through to the final payment page, so i'm guessing this is legit. ticketfactory a reputable ticket site? don't think I've ever heard of or used it before

If they're so legit then why do I have GETOFFAMYLAWN's bank details?!?!

Nah I'd heard of them and stuff before, and they were linked directly from The Cure's website and have over 100k likes on Facebook so you'd be fine. It's good to take note of these lesser known ones for when you're getting nowhere with SeeTickets and Ticketmaster.

Well lets hope they do get them back again.

Who can forget the Cure when they played at Glasto on Saturday 21 June 1986 that was a amazing show and made twenty times better with the thunderstorm that hung about directly behind the stage - the laser flying and the lighting bolts - bloody brilliant.

We had a really good spot and even although it pissed down it did not matter - I had been a big fan before then but seeing them that night was amazing - well worth the weekend ticket price of £17 !!

Shake Dog Shake

In Between Days
The Walk

Give Me It
Boys Don't Cry
Faith
Pornography

a random video of that year just so you can see what the Punters were like back then.

I really enjoyed 1995. It had a been a heavy weekend (I was 19) and I remember feeling so happy watching them and drinking red wine. Was a perfect way to end the fest. This is what we got apparently:

  1. Want
  2.
  3.
  4. End

It does seem weird to me that they won’t book The Cure. They’re available; relatively cheap; haven’t played for 21 years; won’t be around forever; will go down well with a large proportion of the crowd; are generally regarded to be on form at the moment; and, most importantly, will take the strain off of repeat booking by adding another band into the headliner pool. Seems a no-brainer to me.

Does seem odd, doesn't it.  Maybe it's another one of those situations where the band sees themselves as headliner and the festival doesn't quite share the opinion.  Result - no gig on any stage.

I could kind of see this point of view other than that they headlined Reading a few years ago. And, if they are deemed big enough for that, they are much more of a 'Glastonbury' band than a 'Reading' band.
