Its so unfair, we pay so much money and spend so much time and effort trying to get a ticket and people jump the fence or get let in through security! These people should all be arrested!!

Yeah, the poor shouldn't be allowed in. In fact, why don't we just shoot them all?

They should just erect the mega fence all the way round and only the first 200,000 over it are allowed in.

And then survive for five nights? Like Bear Gryll's The Island but kind of in reverse?

Hey Tom! I've got a great idea for a TV show!

2013 I was camped in Row Mead with a group of young people who claimed to get in every year by knowing the right bloke to bung £100 to. Very boasting about it but otherwise wouldn't mention anything to do with it, in an "I've got a secret" type of way. I have no idea whether true or false.

How is it unfair? If the alternative is putting cash and faith in the hands of a dodgy stranger and the very high chance of a long, wasted journey. Then I'm happy to pay the going rate and do a bit of f5ing instead.

Good luck to them if they want to take the risk. Security is so tight these days that the numbers getting in are never going to fill the slack left in the licence.

They made a lot more money than that.......

well I know there was a few at it { may not be connected to the ones in the court case }
they { whoever they are } were being slipped in as workers
take 2013 we arrived in a WBC Coach { with onsite access } - Security only checked the coach was genuine ' but did not enter the coach '
in 2014 we arrived in a WBC Coach but this time a GFL Official walked on and checked all the names with her master list and issued a crew pass so it had been changed from previous years.
I already knew this was going to happen - it was no big deal due to the fact that the WBC will check their list as we load the coach so I knew 100% there was no strangers .
I was expecting this new system would delay things but in fact we got in faster in 2104 than we did in 2013.
have no clue what happens as people arrive by minibus but I did hear that was the way the bogus workers were getting in.
I am sure that over the years that these scams have made a few people a lot of money and sure as shit none of it is going to charity.
I look at it as stealing as Glastonbury is being deprived of the money.

Quite. I'm a bit baffled by the 'good on them - fair play!' sentiment in this thread. We're not talking about some individual chancer leaping over the fence, we're talking about a pre-planned operation to exploit the festival and play dirty. I wouldn't go as far as to want them arrested, but I would want them rounded up and placed back outside the fence, and those who took the money charged for it and placed on a ban list. Smuggling people in is taking the piss out of Glastonbury.

I'm someone who has an extremely tolerant attitude towards gatecrashers, having been one myself in the past when I was young and fit enough to get over, but people using the festival to line their own pockets I don't like.

If someone can get in using only their ingenuity they deserve to stay, if all it takes is money and contacts that's as crooked and corrupt as everything I detest.

ME was always pretty sanguine when it came to people getting in for free, so I don't think we should be getting all righteous over people that manage to bunk in. If they get in for nothing then good luck to them.

I doubt he'd feel so generous towards these chancers charging to bus people in though. They weren't doing this as some kind of philanthropic operation but were profiteering off others, who run the risk of being thrown out again for having no wristband. There have always been these types about, charging to use a ladder or tunnel, but there are more measures in place to catch people without wristbands nowadays and the scale and price these guys were charging puts it in an entirely different league.

I found the punishment for these guys pretty desultory considering it's quite clear they were operating on an industrial scale.

Like you say, the word after the festival last year was that this scam was on a massive scale. They'll be laughing their asses off at the fine and work order for the cash they'll have tucked away.

Its not stealing as Glastonbury was never getting that money, fraud fits better.

Glastonbury is no place for law breakers!!

You're being disingenuous. The only thing that's been broken here is the spirit of fair play by which we all try, and some of us have to accept we've failed, to get tickets. There's no ingenuity involved in paying some mug a wad of notes to get a lift in a mini-bus. I've no problem with somebody chancing their arm (and twix) to get through, but going back and forth in a bus transporting as many people through as possible for profit is taking the piss. Their money doesn't go to Glastonbury or any of the charities it supports, so in essence it is defrauding the festival.

    • I got in for £11.25 in the end, which was absolutely ridiculously good value, and made the queues and overselling of the venue much more tolerable! Sniping in on other people’s unwanted tickets on the day of an event might become my new hobby I think 🥳
    • Ann and Nancy Wilson are planning a final world tour for HEART starting next year. They were never at Glastonbury. They should do it.
    • sub yes I could see but I don't think they get 1hr 15, a headliner starting at 18:15 though is unlikely. Even the recent co-headlines that have had like 1hr 15 then a 1hr 30 after were on 8pm or just before, you are trailing behind more than 1.5 hours then. In that scenario some 3rd down bands are only starting at 18:15 and some haven't lol. I agree they won't not book them due to this but it won't be 6 headliners. It would be 5 headliners and you wouldn't want to see 5 headliners booked but Biffy were to not be thouhgt of as an option for one. Wolf Alice on the other hand could sub no bother and you'd think nothing of it. I'm not so sure Biffy would get headline though after the festival choice in Kendal this year.
    • Definitely. UKIP also used Merkel welcoming 1 million Afgans to Europe in 2015 during the brexit vote.   Politicians in other countries within the EU know the are going to lose voters to parties to the right of them over stuff like this and they've no control over it.
