Have they actually released anything of note since Galvanize? I'd check Wiki but I can't be arsed.

There was a time when the Chemicals were genuinely groundbreaking and essential to the music scene but I've a feeling that time has been and gone. When I watched them in 2011 it just seemed like a field of 40-somethings desperately trying to relive their mid-twenties albeit on creakier knees and less illegal drugs.

you're right, but who is there to fill their void? skrillex?

the likes of chemicals, orbital, leftfield etc are still headlining because nobody has yet bettered them.

There last album Further was absolutely brilliant, didn't exactly bother the charts but a real return to form in my eyes.

I can't believe how many people don't seem to have heard or rate further. The album was incredible! Whatever people say about an ageing crowd, most people I know are really into them and that's early twenties so they're definitely still major players!

I'm early twenties and they are my favourite electronic act by far.

Its amazing, surely most people have heard Swoon at least?

Indeed, Swoon is bloody brilliant!!

Still for a Glastonbury performence I'd put myself in the seen it once, would go again but wouldn't win in a clash group as i've seen it before and know what I am going get.

Swoon makes me feel queasy in a good way - just had a quick look at the tracklist for Further and I am going to say that there isn't a single track that isn't amazing on there - probably my favourite Chems album to listen to from start to finish to be honest.

ha, same here. always loved 'em, been buying their stuff since before their first album, but Further is my favourite.

I haven't disliked anything they've ever done. I mean the Hunger games and the Hanna soundtrack were boring but album wise i think they've been consistently excellent.

If them playing sunday means no clash with the mothership and moody blues (tough choice as it is) then that's fine by me (barring an amazing pyramid headliner).

Well it's not groundbreaking but I'm sure I'll learn to love it.

Quite excited for the next single featuring Q-Tip though. And one with Beck could be interesting.

Slightly gutted that the album won't be out before the big G.

Yeah week on Monday. Part of me wants a half arsed headliner on Pyramid Sunday, really don't want to have to make the choice between Chemical Brothers and someone really good on Pyramid

feeling that way now.

Listening to the new track through my proper sound system. Much better than my bass swamped DAB system. Sounding great.

    • Rumours are it's called The Lost Tour. In the US in September. Ireland in November (so UK+Europe a good bet around November/early December).
    • Hey guys, is there a group going for any solo y not goers this year?? I couldn’t miss out once I saw the acts but it’s just me and would be great to meet some others:))
    • After deciding to abandon the festival, here's a few of my thoughts (mostly negative tbf).    On the positive side - was it just me or were there a few more urinals than last year? Seemed to help the queues at the loos a bit from what i saw. Plus they had at least had some foresight and had a few more covered areas in the VIP areas.    Now on the negatives.  The weather was admittedly pretty crap but it wasn't apocalyptic. How the actual f**k are bits of the main stage falling off in those conditions?  Then the communication was awful, there's a load of people who left the site because they were told by security guards/other personnel that there would be no more acts on the main stage this evening.  You have an app Primavera, use it! Yes, there's a shitload going on I'm sure but communication with the festivalgoers should be one of the top priorities. You failed.    And I'm not usually somebody who buys into the whole "oh this is hugely unsafe and it's lucky people weren't hurt" narrative, but all the above led to movements of people that were genuinely unsafe.  Evacuating Mordor entirely (again... Why???) and then having a horde of people trying to get in because they thought they were going to Massive Attack was insane.  And given a lot of people basically abandoned ship around 10.30pm the crush at both the exit to the festival and the entrance to the Metro was pretty dangerous.   Conditions happen, most people will get that....but the contingencies have to be better.
    • You'd think that something like bad weather was in the basics of festival planning. After the shitshow of Madrid, you'd think they'd learnt their lesson, apparently not...
    • Same. Shower and back out in a taxi!
