I've been going to Glastonbury for some time now. I know things evolve and change and the whole boutique camping is getting bigger and bigger every year. This kind of thing I feel is rather distasteful

The money they make from Worthy View etc presumably plays a key part in keeping the whole shebang affloat.

Yes, but there is a world of difference between Worthy View and the other options that I am refering to. The ones that I refer to are just a couple of them. The site is now completely surrounded by them.

and the promo vid

God that video has really pissed me off!! so basically party, get a facial, nails done with Glasto as your backdrop....do people who go here even go and do anything at the festival??!!

I'm all for a bit of comfort but that is just unbelievable :(

Mad innit.

That helicopter site has a warning about turning up with scruffy looking tents or camper vans at their site.

Mind, if I'd won the euromillions and it was either buy one of them or not go, I'd stump up. And do a dirty protest in the jacuzzi...

There's always going to be a ridiculously small amount of attendees that think they can't do camping, or may not be able to, & have the income to spunk money on this kind of stuff.

I wouldn't worry about it or it changing the festival dynamic.

So a festival ticket is included at face value. Does GF sell this at above face value? If not, what's in it for them taking a slice out of the (our) general sale?

It keeps the surrounding land owners happy I assume.

Get 50 odd tickets off the Eavii, then get a boutique team in to sort out the camping. Say you have 50 tents going at 2k each, thats decent profit for a weeks hardship split between you and the camping team.

I did say 25 years ago,,,and that was 1990, and you remember what happened then? And we still have our lovely festival!

Times and attitudes change. If Camp Kerala had existed and been trashed in 1990, I think we would still be where we are today.

If it's not boutique camping it's a pass to a boutique shitter shower combo. Really wish they'd knock it on the head.

That is probably doing my head in more than anything right now and if the Eavii have any sense they'll knock it on the head allowing this shit soon, before people start to realise that it is a 2 class festival, one for the majority and another for those who can pay the dollar.

It reminds me of Disneyworld allowing people to pay extra not to queue. The basic idea of that fails to appreciate that by doing this it is the people who are queuing who are effectively footing the bill, as they have to queue longer for their basic ticket price.

I've always been strongly against premium camping and Worthy view I accept with gritted teeth, however if what used to be a fairly underground and leftfield festival turns into henley fucking regatta I'll be long gone. Lots of people I know are already long gone, saying that this (and other things like the Orange corporate presence) have ripped the soul out of the festival and turned it into a playground for the rich.

That's just ridiculously stupid.

Bringing your own tent, motor home or caravan

Don't turn up with anything too ugly as we won't let you put it up or park it.
