I did too. There's nothing like a good lightning show. Last year was the best storm since 2009:

The storm in 2005 took it a bit too far though. It's one of the few times I've been genuinely scared by the weather. That said, looking back I'm glad I was there - the events of that Friday morning in Pennards were an incredible thing to witness.

I didn't realise Arcadia was so big back then...wow!

I remember the storm in 2009, me and the other half had a row whilst putting up the tent (was very windy and we had a right difficult time putting the fucker up not helped by her constant cries of 'be careful Chris the tents gonna blow away!), made up and spent a few hours in the tent chilling and smoking, some guy ran past in a loincloth screaming MJ had died just as we were going to light our disposable BBQs for dinner (those around us were well fed as we brought FAR too much!) and the heavens opened whilst we were wandering. Managed to dart into the nearest bar and sit the worst of the rain out whilst getting drunk!

Rained a little bit Fri morning/early afternoon and I swore the site was going to turn I to a mudbath but as others have said it dried out nicely and my wellies were safely away come Friday evening!

But it is time for another completely dry one - memories of the difference it makes are getting fuzzy. Circus/bellas/theatre so much more fun, so much more booze.......

I seem to remember in 2009 there was also a colossal thunder storm a couple of hours after Blur ended their set. Was sitting in our tiny caravan wondering how it would cope with a lightning strike, and listening to messages from people queuing to leave the site being read out on Worthy FM. 'Lily Allen just got out of the car in front and squatted for a pee at the side of the road'. Happy days..

Was sitting in our tiny caravan wondering how it would cope with a lightning strike, and listening to messages from people queuing to leave the site being read out on Worthy FM. 'Lily Allen just got out of the car in front and squatted for a pee at the side of the road'. Happy days..

We were in a bar off the railway track, which very quickly began to get submerged in water and we made a hasty retreat back to the van.

we literally finished packing the car and shut the door when that started, if we'd have been seconds later, everything we owned would have been soaked!!

Twas Thursday night, rained until lunchtime Friday, the night of the Michael Jackson rumours that turned out to be true. I was that pissed though it didn't bother me at all, I can remember sitting on the grass behind a fish and chip van drunkenly scoffing said fish and chips at around 12 midnight.

In some ways one of the most memorable nights of my life. Didn't really get up to much but it was my first day on the farm ever and getting pissed with friends while experiencing the palpable buzz of a Thursday night at Glastonbury and the crazed hilarity that people were greeting the Michael Jackson news with, all capped off by a huge thunderstorm was just amazing.

I left on the Sunday in 2009 as I couldn't get the Monday off work, remember getting home about 4am and ringing the rest of our camp to say i was back and my mate said 'i wish i'd gone with you its just started to hammer it down!'

We managed to meet the GF's dad after he went to see Echo and the Bunnymen in JPT, and lug our gear back to the van before the rain. I remember cos we queued for a few hours to get out of the field and thanked god we were in the van, not the tents. Proper biblical shit.

The best lightening storm I have witnessed was in '86 when The Cure were headlining. Constant strikes of forked lightening hitting the hill behind The Pyramid.

Best Glastonbury light show ever.

(Even the lightening isn't as good as it used to be )

Gotta love the Glasto stories that get told on here.

The best one being the Twix story. I have the text saved on my laptop and I will be saving it until the day we go and reading it before we leave. Sets me right in the mood that does.

Thats roughly what we did. We depitched our tent (6 man monster of a fucker) and left it in the lock up, her dad did his halfway through the day and did the same, met up and left.

He is a professional driver, couldn't get Monday off, so we drove through the night. Got back in to her flat at about 5am, he stayed up as he had to leave for work at 6 and we stayed in bed all day.

Sleeping on the grass was a retarded idea though. They must have been CRYING for spare tent space!`

In 09 I remember going in to one of the dance tents before the storm then coming out and literally wading through standing water as it wasn't draining.

Don't even think I got my sneakers muddy.

UK Outlook for Friday 12 Jun 2015 to Friday 26 Jun 2015:

High pressure looks to have become established across the north of the UK by the start of this period. This will bring fine and dry conditions to most parts with much warmer conditions than of late across the north. It is also expected to be very warm in the south, although here there is a risk of some heavy and thundery showers spreading up from continental Europe. Confidence in the forecast drops towards the end of June; however, the general trend looks set to remain much the same, meaning drier conditions in the north, some showers possible in the south and warm or very warm temperatures.
