Black Sabbath will be at download or no festival at all really, I can't see them playing a festival they've never done for the first time on their final tour. They'l stick to what they know.

To be honest, I'm unsure why people would speculate R&L for them. As you say, the only possible festival that would get them is Download and if they want to do a festival here they won't have to try hard to get them either. I'd expect something similar to what someone else said about arena dates later in the year, but I'd not expect many, two Birmingham dates or something like that.

Prodigy could probably do download, reckon they're more likely for that than headlining r+l

They are to be fair but they played Friday the same year as Sabbath played the Sunday in 2012 so I'd say it's unlikely. Expecting The Prodigy to pick up V end stage/Reading sub and Glastonbury Other headliner.

Hopefully staying as far away from R&L as possible.

They've usually been very good when they've played in the past, just that they had a shocker in '09. Although they were still better than Arctic Monkeys that year.

why would they be strong?

Still a pretty huge name, large back catalogue, proven headliner credentials and would draw a crowd. A bit like Green Day in 2013, when people said they were a poor choice despite not being at all.

KOL's stock has plummeted massively since 2009 - despite both getting to number one, neither of the past two albums have been half as successful as Only By The Night. reckon they're doomed to headline V and TITP every couple of years

Yeah, they're not as huge as they were circa 2008/09, but it's hardly as if Metallica, Blink 182, Green Day, The Cure, My Chemical Romance or The Strokes were all at the absolute peak of their powers when they've headlined in recent years either.

Put them alongside a massive stadium sized headliner like Muse, and a currently big rising star type headliner like Florence and they'd be a solid booking.

Exactly.

Didn't they play Hyde Park again last year?

They're a truly awful band but I still think they're big enough to headline

Honestly, if they are going as low as Foals, just give it to The Prodigy, at least it'll be a show.

    • Hey everyone! My friend and I are heading over from Sweden to Tramlines this summer. We had our eyes on a bunch of different festivals in the UK, but since most of them sold out before we even knew if we’d be able to make the trip, we finally settled on Tramlines. Why Tramlines, you might ask? Well, because we’re absolutely crazy about British music, and finding a festival like this (where you also don’t have to camp, a huge plus) made it impossible not to buy a ticket. The fact that I’ll also get to see The Enemy after beeing a fan for 19 years didn’t hurt either.   Since the app doesn’t work over here… is the Clashfinder schedule 100% accurate? What’s the venue like, and what does the map look like? Which sides of the stages are best to stand on? How long does it take to walk between stages? What are the prices usually for food and drinks? Is it easy to get to the festival from town? And is it easy to get back into town? Is it allowed to walk around with a beer anywhere in the venue, or are there those stupid fenced-off bar areas? As you can tell, I need all kinds of info, so please share your best tips and tricks to make this the best festival experience possible.  I’d really appreciate it. Thanks in advance! 😃
    • A whole year of this!  What a time to be alive! This is going to be an incredible playlist.
    • Sorry matey.  Always a nightmare when you have a plan and something scuppers it.   Happy myself, fills a nice little gap for me. Lucky so far really.     I’d have preferred an alternative too to break up the 21 pilot set but shan’t complain
    • Happy with the name, unhappy with what it did to the lineup. Now I have to choose between Florence Road and Beirut 😞 and still no alternative to 21p.
    • Odd and rare for RW indeed! I even remember reading in the past that one of the reasons for certain bands not appearing there, were similar demands being rejected. It’s weird that they play after Gorillaz and even more weird that there won’t be an alternative. All they had to do was push Pixies to later.
