Sunbather is just incredible. Quite possibly my favourite album of the decade so far. In terms of how fucking massive it sounds I always place it in my head with Agaetis byrjun and Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas To Heaven. They're all the sound of bands just going for broke and making something with genuinely breathtaking scope and ambition.

Sounds like Sunbather is something I need to check out!

I've downloaded Sunbather. I come at this more from post-rock than metal (More Mogwai than Wolves in the Throne Room) - and, from the reviews I read etc. - Sunbather looked more like something I'd be into. Downloaded it this evening, will give it a listen on the commute tomorrow.

Both of your avatars I've seen you use today have been exceptional.

Thank you. i'm glad you like them. Also -

Anything that stands comparison with those two records must be worth a listen. Tomorrow morning's trip to Ayrshire has just got a lot more interesting.

just discovered the go! Team have a new album out in March. I absolutely loved their first 2 albums. Admittedly I never really got into the 3rd album, but still quite excited.

They don't seem to have any tour information on their website. Noticed they played West Holts in 2011 whilst Coldplay were headlining on Pyramid. Would be quite happy if that was to happen again.

Nah - they played on the Sunday afternoon. We moseyed over after Paul Simon had finished on the Pyramid.

I got mixed up, 2005 they headlined John Peel at same time Coldplay were headlining. I had a look through old line ups earlier seeing what Coldplay clashed with in previous years to remind myself I could enjoy myself without seeing headliners. Knew the Go! Team were in there somewhere.

So it seems there is a correlation between Go! Team and Coldplay playing, get them on the rumours page :)

I'm doing this now and I see Hard-Fi headlined the Leftfield in 2011 while Coldplay were on. Looks like we're all saved.

Edit: And Razorlight on the Other Stage in 2005!

And Hard-Fi are TBC on here for 2nd top of the Leftfield in 2005. Christ they're the Coldplay-saviours, this lot.

I reckon if I'd been the years Coldplay headlined before I would have seen Garbage, the Go! Team and Chemical Brothers, but there were plenty of good options, so here's hoping for the same again this year, if they do headline.

Probably Coldplay, Squarepusher and Chemical Brothers for me. Never listened to any act they were up against in 2002, and they weren't even bad then. Hope there's a decent alternative this year, though.

New Orders album out for the summer now

http://www.stereogum.com/1734608/bernard-sumner-teases-old-fashioned-new-order-lp-first-without-peter-hook/news/

Could we see an other stage for one night of

New Order

Chemical Brothers

Hot Chip

That would be as good as it could possibly get for me. I think the Chems/Chem would sub New Order, they are massive fans, wrote Here To Stay together and they are working on 3 songs on the new NO album together. Plus Bernard sang on Out Of Control for The Chems.

not really feeling Purity Ring's new album on first listen. it's not terrible, but it's just an incredibly streamlined version of what they did before. they now sound like a less energetic Chvrches

It's leaked then? Sounds quite disappointing, I'm hoping it's a grower, their first record and accompanying live shows were really compelling.

yes it has. i'll definitely be giving it more listens in the hope that it's a grower, and there were definitely some moments that caught my ear, but as a whole it definitely didn't seem to have the magic that the first album did

    • Have settlers people started receiving their car park passes? I was sure I had bought one, but cant find a receipt for it and nothing through the post yet.
    • @northernangel Are Wolf Alice not in the conversation? They just did a sold out Finsbury Park to 45,000 people, if they're ever gonna get the push it's now.

    • @mufcok could that Fontaines offer and stadium date be 28 instead?   Agree on the female angle. If Madonna, Olivia and Sabrina weren't available, they could still grab Florence back.....obviously that's bearing in mind that she is touring next year. Charli is another option but I just don't think she is at that level and she's just continuously toured she may as well end up doing Glastonbury off of the same your she's headlined other. I honestly thought she wouldn't be about next year.    Obviously this is if the sun knowing anything. But the guy on this seems to be quite sure Fender has leaked....was he just too drunk and messing his words up. I wouldn't go against Fender and Harry and maybe they just don't have a female option for next year.   Personally I'd see Fender, Fontaines and Harry as quite poor but that's because neither bother me personally
