I agree it's a shit thing to do, but the fact is if people loved a band enough they wouldn't have such strong principals. If this was your favourite band in the world who rearranged a date in Paris to headline Glastonbury, would you turn your nose up to it because they have shit on their own fans?

No u would not. The point I've been trying to say all weekend.

How the fuck can you call a whole band AIDS deniers if only one member believes that wacky conspiracy?

Look FFS don't mess with folk's reasons for self-righteous indignation and hatred, it's a national institution. They will find something to smash down what they don't like, it's how we all learnt it worked from the bullies at school right?

Wilmslow had it right, and beyond that there's scope for rehabilitation and regret in some cases - but none of that matters to the mob if they've a target in sight and with a membership as wide as this forum's there's going to be a bit of mob. It's better not to argue with them or get tarred with the same brush.

TBH the outcry at Metallica as hunters was far louder than this current murmur - read into that what you will if you feel like being An Outraged Person today

The fact that there's Only one chemical brother puts me off a bit

Same.

I've had and ignored the opportunity to see the Chems a few times over the years, with the closest being that I bumped into long haired brother coming out of a backstage portaloo before they went on in 2000. If my best option to close the festival is half a band I've never bothered to walk a few hundred yards for in the past it would be a little sad.

I'm currently pinning my hopes on someone I would like to see at the park or JPT for Sunday. Suede or FFS would be about my best option.

How does 2 sold out show dates fit into 1 sho, If everyone wants their ticket?

That's about as official as we need to get without it coming from TOS, I'd say. Cheers for the info Brave Sir Robin.

I was pinning my hopes on it being just another time the Sun got it wrong (which is literally dozens of times, many more times than they've got it right....they predict Oasis almost every year) but now I am resigned to it being The Who on the basis of ME's comments about there being some sort of clash related issue to be resolved.

I'm waiting to see what the reports of the early June shows are before worrying about that.

U think they both might make an appearance? I thought it was only recently they announced it was just one tho?

Also, I wonder if it actually has any impact on the performance, I'd guess not, but maybe someone more in the know has an idea?

To be fair, we don't know that the shows are sold out, just that no tickets were on sale on most sites.

It might be (for example) that they took tickets off sale a couple weeks ago in anticipation of having to move the shows.

Did they both sell out straight away? I'd have thought so but if not there could have been a point when they were confirmed for Glastonbury that they showed both gigs as sold out despite not actually being sold out. I'm no Expert on the who demand In Paris unfortunately

We should definitely start an online petition against The Who playing because of the unfair treatment of the Paris fans and because of Townsend's child porn

At the end of the day it really doesn't matter a tinkers toss who the final headliner is. All that matters is kicking the fucking Tories out of office on Thursday.

Suppose this is the telling part, still not clear if glasto is part of the tour or not tho, not looked at the dates

Although he's departed the live show, Simons makes it clear that he and Rowlands will continue DJing and making music together: "Were still very much together and making this record together and DJing together. The touring just doesnt fit alongside my academic work."

Yes but I don't think many people are disagreeing with that.

I think it's a shit thing to do, and probably won't be there because I'm not into them (might change once I've given them a proper listen).

If Radiohead cancelled a show to play, I'd go and see them, but I'd still be posting the same things I have about it being a shit thing to do.

There have been a few people saying they won't go, out of principle, even though they quite like the music.

It does seem like a strange move to reschedule if they were both sold out. Why forgo a payday from two of your own shows to headline Glastonbury...again?

    • wombats have been doing that and selling quite well, couple of really strong support acts could make it work.
    • More likely for Mad Cool.
    • Yes. September still a very long away, keep the faith.
    • With Di Artze doing Nova Rock next year, if Foos are there too I think that puts pay to SOAD. I would think they would get SOAD if they could rather than Di Arte again 3 years later.
