Came across this just now and Eavis definitely says "We can't do the headliners" in terms of revealing them.

http://www.bathchronicle.co.uk/Glastonbury-Michael-Eavis-questioned-2015/story-26383855-detail/story.html

It's back from around the time Emily said it was only one headliner which I find strange. I'd guess it does point to the sub being a big act (headline sized?) rather than Emily just bigging up the sub for the sake of it. Just thought it might be interesting as the quote seems to not have been taken from the V&A thing, suggesting it wasn't just a slip up or mistake when he said "headliners" then.

I'd put a guess on Noel subbing blur after being penned in for the headline until it became apparent blur were available. But then again blur seem less likely now so who knows... (Feel free to ignore this if it was brought up already :/ )

Foo Fighters are headliners. Think you've misunderstood how the plural works there.

if it's in terms of revealing the headliners then surely it means only the ones left to be revealed and not the already revealed Foos and Kanye?

Just watched paul and ringo play together at the rock n roll hall of fame induction on YouTube, have either been ruled out by being unavailable? Could they play under the name The Beatles or would there be some legal stuff preventing it?

He'd have to get the permish of Yoko Ono and George Harrison's wife Olivia to use the name. Even if Julian & Dahni were playing as well I'd be doubtful they'd be allowed to use the name, they are unbelievably protective of the whole legacy thing.

I'd love love love to see that set though!! Blimey charlie, that'd be something.

Just watched Noel being interviewed live on Periscope. Said Oasis reunion not happening and if it does he won't be involved. Very emphatic even said his kids don't ask about 'uncle Liam' when pressed about the family etc.

He did say he loves the new Blur album, Lonesome Street and Ong Ong being his favourites although any link up with Damon is long off.

They're headlining at other major English festivals and their Hyde Park headline show was, while not quite sold out, very well attended. If you think they're not big enough to headline then you're dreaming.

Libertines are big only in a very, very narrow genre and based largely on mystique (not the ladies). They are not big enough to headline Glasto. The reason they are headlining so many festivals is because there are so few original bookings available of the required stature. For now, Libertines will fit that bill as they command curiosity about their back story. But as a band, they certainly are not big enough to headline Glastonbury (that doesn't mean they won't because the headliner problem is affected all festivals). They wouldn't get a huge crowd, and if they did the crowd would dwindle.

Good summation.

So it's a British band,

it's not Oasis, it's not Blur...

NGHFB not big enough, Libertines not big enough...

Increased Pyramid field size...

Moon on the poster...

Gilmour and Waters somewhat active...

BRING ON THE FLOYD

Cos of all those other shows they have to sell out right??

    • It would be piss-easy for a bot to manage, though.
    • I've heard that ticket sales for other events that use the same system have included the question 'are you still there?' on each window/browser you have with a place in the queue. If you don't confirm you are, it'll assume you're not and that place will drop.   I've no idea if Glasto/See will adopt this, but it would be challenging to keep on top of with many windows open.
    • People who're struggling are already priced out, so I don't think a bump in price will affect who attends. There'll still be a cross section, leaning young. I also think they'll do a soft breaking of the £400 ceiling, keeping the ticket price just below but having postage take it over. Next year the ticket itself will be over that threshold.

    • Not sure if this has been mentioned but new La Roux album out November - was meant to play in 2020 but hasn't found her way back onto a lineup. If any excuse just to hear this absolute banger on the fields next year!
