I just wonder if Glastonbury are happier than some other festivals to leave it late (e.g. Stevie Wonder 2010) as they don't rely on headliners to sell tickets. Once they've got two booked maybe they sit and wait knowing they've got someone they can bump up if need be or an act may come up late (e.g.if that's what's happened with Blur or F Mac this year)

perhaps, but it'd be a pretty risky move to make. the biggest festival in the world should really be trying to get the best selection of headliners it can - not two great headliners and one they sorted out at the last minute. i think their plan A falling through seems far more likely unfortunately, but i guess we'll wait and see who this final headliner turns out to be - might shock us all

If so this thread will probably reach 10,000 pages...

Yeah I dread to think what this thread will look like if we go another month and a half without an announcement. A post-apocalyptic nuclear wasteland, most likely. Just with more people saying 'Is it Coldplay?'

So the lineup backdrop Moon thing is a nod to director Duncan Jones and obviously he was once some Bowie jizz and he's directing Warcraft and so new age mysticism and hippies and shit and its Bowie isnt it.

Imagine another 65 days of someone asking if it could be Muse or AC/DC?

Any thoughts on the new map? The pyramid field is extended like it was in 2013 for the Rolling Stones, which makes me think that it's not going to be Blur... They must be anticipating a larger than usual crowd at some point over the weekend, and can't imagine that Foos or Kanye would have that kind of draw...

They could just be extending it permanently.

tbh, if it doesn't come from The Sun nowadays I wouldn't bother. Yes it's a shit paper like all of them but they have had good info, The Star as Neil says forget it.

Good info? Tell that to Hillsborough survivors and many others. The S*n is a despicable rag that has ruined many people's lives with falsehoods and outright lies. Best ignored.

How do they extend? Do they move stage back or move into Row mead a bit?

They'll just take space from row mead, which is a shame as it's my favourite place of all to camp. Haven't managed to get in there since 2010 or so. Sad really, as it was lovely little community

That's what I was thinking that is where I camped in 2010! Haven't been since then was hoping to again but looks like I will not be able to :(

I think you will need to join the nutters who queue through the night to get in there these days. Sod that.

I'm in a ten man tent this year so no chance!

Exactly this. I reckon it's between F.Mac, Taylor Swift and Stone Roses now Prince has being supposedly ruled out.

and one of them has no known contractual obligations to overcome and no shows waiting to sell out either.

Which actually makes her less likely.

Edit: Wait, not sure you were talking about Swift after all, just saw it was you, Martin, and assumed!

    • Audrey Hobert getting a lot of traction lately and new single on Friday. Wonder if she could be round next summer.
    • Think Pulp are optimistic, not in terms of size but just that they've been on the road (albeit not intensively) for 3 years in a row and it feels like EotR is the deliberate end of the cycle.   Would be fairly surprised if they're active next year.
    • 👍 plus they brought their own screens 📺 either side of the stage.
    • Production was the only thing that could even explain why she would back out. Like they had sorted out the financials and she was fine with it and then a production meeting happened. It all fell apart. It was very clear that she was not going to compromise her show one bit and then that show in Brazil pretty much confirmed it. There was like one element they couldnt pull off outdoors, but it was negligible since the rest was a carbon copy of the tour she had been on. Glasto is not willing to make any bold changes on the Pyramid stage so then theyre kinda stuck in terms of what some acts want/demand. I think the easiest solution to that is putting her on Friday. You deal with the changes for one night and then re configure for the rest of the weekend. In 24 they were fortunate to have had Dua and Coldplay on Fri and Sat so they could both use the b stage. But I think it was removed for Sunday?     I saw a random rag article earlier that said Olivia Dean turned down Glasto BECAUSE her ex ( not even confirmed dating ) Harry Styles was playing the fest. hahahaha
