Why did they stay just an R Neil (just curious), which i believe they were just before announcement? Because you couldn't reveal it, didn't get around to updating the rumours page etc?

They can still show up and play without headlining one would think. Wouldn't surprise me tbh.

I doubt The National will be a strong sub after another album. I also don't think they're easily big enough to headline Other atm. Could maybe do it at a push, but I don't think there'd be a huge crowd. They should headline the entire thing, though.

The National? They're one of the best respected bands in the world, have a giant back catalogue which is almost all pure gold, regularly headline other festivals and are are brilliant live. They're Pyramid subbers or Other headliners.

I mean come on, Jake Bugg headlined the Other Stage last year. Jake Bugg! Hahahahahaahahahahaha *falls off chair sideways*

was thinking about that this morning. I'd have a little wager on them doing something unexpected at the festival this year.

Sadly the same can't be said for National

oh come on now. they're good, but let's not go overboard here. they have a huge cult fanbase but right now i doubt they could do anything more than sub Other - if they were booked to headline against a major Pyramid headliner they'd pull a pitiful crowd. i know their fans on here like to think that they're a band destined for great things, but they'll never be as successful or popular as people believe they will

id agree......not at glastonbury their not......like it or not, argue how you want this is not a festival which people think of as a cheesy pop radio 1 big weekend kind of deal as far as the headliners go. and long may that be the case, mainstream pop music gets enough exposure after all in modern times! leave that for v fest and the aforementioned big weekend radio 1 bash`s no problem with poppy artists appeearing further down the bill such as lilly allen last year...... but headlining? hell no!

just... no

yet they headlined every festival they played in the past few years - roskilde, primavera, pukkelpop, lowlands, way out west, northside etc...?

but... just... no, can't possibly do that at glastonbury.

and not one of them in the UK...

i'm not saying they're not big, but Pyramid sub / Other headliner? nah, they just don't have the mass appeal over here to pull that kind of slot off imo

Madonna

P*****

Taylor

Take That

Rihanna

Kylie

Stone Roses

This is my current ordering of likelihood. Not the most thrilling of names from a personal point of view. Hoping for the purple one or the very long shot stone roses. The rest don't interest me

Agreed

Madonna is one of those mega names that I've never seen so I would be up for her as a headliner BUT I think that girl seen holding hands with Calvin Harris is far more "now" even if she hasn't had a huge string of hits

Does anyone else think Michael & Emily are hoping to sign P***** and he's stalling as usual - hence the delay in announcing the Sunday headliner.

I wouldn't be too suprised if there's a TBC for the Sunday headliner when they release in lineup next month

I don't think there's a delay to be honest (based on past announcements). I think its just the we are all mad, impatient and obsessive in this forum (myself included)

There isn't a hope in hell The National are going to headline G, absolute 0 chance.

You just can't judge it on festivals abroad, Editors headlines Werchter, which is bigger than all of them it's probably the biggest mainland european festival, and are you telling me you'd think Editors could headline G

It's time to put the glue away and get realistic

Have a coffee and a sit down. Maybe stick on Europe '72.

Are u serious? I'm been trying to figure it out for the past week or two? I can't grasp that a fully grown man would be so obsessed with taylor swift (I presume that's who Ur referring to) U baffle me Martin Ashford

word I've just had that's supposedly sourced via her 'people' says that it's definitely not.

I can't guarantee that's true of course, but what I've heard does seem to sensibly fit with other Madge bits and pieces.

Hmmm.

I can only see it being Prince / Florence - the latter if he pulls out.

Otherwise it's a complete wildcard.
