Im not a Madonna fan, but the thought of her doing a hits laden set on the Pyramid (which surely she would have to do) and getting absolutely mullered and singing along to those songs you pretend you dont know, makes me feel happy

Matt you never took me up on my 20 to Wateraid to bring your inane and distasteful predictions to an immediate halt... Offer still stands.

I don't come on here that often and I'm bored of them. You regulars must be well and truly sick of them by now!

Kanye and Madonna both represent pretty big risks, to me. They both have the potential to absolutely nail it, but I'd say both should be booked with a condition or two: that Kanye can't rant and that Madonna can't just do her newer stuff. Unless he concentrates on the music it's not going to work, and unless she plays the hits spanning her career, it's not going to work either.

I agree with you but imagine telling her that.

if Madonna's agreed to play i think she'll know that a greatest hits set is in order. obviously a couple of new songs would be expected as she's promoting the album, but i doubt she'd muck it up like she did on her last tour and play her whole new album in it's entirety

*Any kind* of contribution that moved beyond "as it stands/here's my take/latest hunch/tea leaves have foretold the following" would be welcome, yes.

You'd hope, and it definitely seem probable that last time out humbled her a bit....but then gauging by recent interviews I do wonder.....

Glastonbury can't put constraints on its artists like that, nor should it.

Tbh both are quite savvy - they won't take or be as big a risk as you'd imagine.

Now His Purpleness on the other hand........

:D

Gary Barlow has just tweeted that this weekend is going to be "'interesting'"!!!

If the announcement is this weekend, surely not them, please someone tell me they're busy/never be considered!?!?

has a headliner ever totally fucked it up setlist-choice wise? always hear about performances being bad but not so much about the wrong choice of songs being played (i guess because if a performance is great the song choice doesn't matter so much)

Nothig in it for Taylor to sub Madonna. Why would she do it? Makes no sense. Taylor currently bigger, and yet all the headlines and publicity would go to Madonna. Can't imagine Swift (or more pertinently, her management) going for that.

Gorillaz didn't exactly go down great.

Both Bruce and U2 could have been far more newbie friendly when they got their Sharpies out.

Yeah, no way should Glastonbury dictate what an artist can/can't do once their up there. That's the beauty of it. Could all go horrifically, shockingly, briliantly wrong. One of the thrillls of live music.

A matter of respect, with Madge as Marlon Brando.

Bruce a good example. U2 didn't skimp on the hits CalGon. Their "finale" was self indulgent I'll give you that.

to be fair, for fans i thought U2's was great. obviously a few silly choices, and very top heavy, but all round pretty great

Gorillaz didn't exactly go down great.

didn't exactly have a huge back catalogue to choose from though did they? they had those couple of singles that everybody knew, and then a load of album tracks that nobody knew

Yeah i guess, it just felt like the whole thing didn't really work in a festival environment. I still enjoyed and i gained a better appreciation for Plastic Beach from seeing those songs live.
