Considering how some people have acted it wouldn't surprise me if they held off the announcement, scare off the deadwood whining about Kanye, and leave the rest of us who will go regardless to find out after the payment window closes.

Must say i'm very pleased FM have rejected Glasto, would have been an awfully long two and a bit hours to hear 2 or 3 great songs. At most. Pretty sure i would be elsewhere on site if they were to play.

That would make a lot of sense to be honest.

They would still shift all the returns without anyone being announced.

Nah it'l come during the payment window guys, they'll see that people are holding off paying until an announcement and then rush release a small poster.

Just like last year

They won't keep it till after balance - if they do They'l just get further criticism from the goers.

I think they have pretty much always released a poster before or during the payment window haven't they? I know the "thing" is on here which tells us but I cant be bothered to go find it again.

I'd in-normal-circumstances guess something like that, but it seems strange that they'd announce over Easter when they'll get the least impact from it. The whole point in making an announcement is to get that impact.

Difficult to call, I reckon.

Is the desire to know the lineup always this manic?

I mean, I'm looking forward to finding out but this thread resembles an asylum at times.

The lineup will be somewhere between decent and very good.

You will never, absolutely never, be stuck for something to see or do.

It will be amazing.

Relax and worry about something else

yes it's always like this apart from we know less than previous years so it's slightly worse.

Let's not get confused with how the Glasto regulars look at it -

I understand that a lot of people have this attitude that we don't need the lineup, but it's unfair to a lot of people who either aren't glastonbury regulars, or just genuinely care about the lineup.

I'd say it's (not a bad type) ignorant to assume that everyone is "not getting glastonbury" if they want the lineup. It is a big part of a lot of people's festival, maybe not yours but it is fair to let people know what they are paying for in this economy. I'd say it's a bit pretentious to just say to people, "you don't need to know the lineup, just pay anyway" and expect everyone to be 100% okay.

Why should we care? The point is, they can whine and moan about having to pay before knowing the line-up all they want. Yeah it's frustrating for them, but life is frustrating that way.

In the end, it really doesn't matter - they'll love it.

I both agree and disagree - I think it's perfectly acceptable to pay without a lineup and to expect that, on the grounds that the lineup is granted to be good. However, that doesn't mean people can't want the lineup (I am craving it despite being ready to pay asap.) It's a different matter wanting it... to needing to know it before you pay.

    • Another one from Sheffield DocFest this weekend, Earth Wind & Fire docu, directed by Questlove. Sensational archive footage, contributions from band members, family, plus a lot of very big fans (Stevie, Lionel, Flea, the Obamas) and a warts n all assessment of the genius / flawed human being that was Maurice White. Also, I never realised he started out as a jazz drummer with Ramsay Lewis. Well worth a watch.
