when it's certain that I have lost it it'll get paid.

Oh right. I just thought that seeing as how you pressured a user on here to cough up on a wager you had about Florence not headlining Glastonbury when Emily confirmed she wouldn't be, that you'd perhaps lead by example now that RDB has confirmed Florence won't be headlining Bestival either.

My mistake.

This is a valid point. Everybody at work always asks me about what I think of so and so headling, when i try and explain they glaze over. When I come back from the festival they will always ask about the headliners.

To this forum and a number of regulars it genuinely is more than a music festival. To the general public and a lot of first timers its all about the Pyramid

Exactly. I was asked at work twice "are you still going to go if you don't like Kanye West?"

Something I don't get about Emily's interview is that she says she can't give anything away. Then she gives it away

Promoters promote. :)

I've also heard a few times now that people who've seen her do a queue of interviews for different journos are rather amazed at how good she is at giving the same interview again and again, and never giving more away than she wants to. It sounds like she knows exactly what she's doing, and how best to play things.

I sort-of feel sorry for people in her position when they get interviewed. If someone throws a list of names at them they need a way to deal with them without giving anything away.

I was a bit pissed last time I spoke with Emily myself, which was about a year ago - after most bands had been announced but not Metallica. I kept trying to ask her stuff about Metallica, and somehow we always ended up speaking about something else. She's good!

Mine was just the once, and part of a running joke and meant in jest as much as anything else (tho if he'd have paid up, I wouldn't have stopped him). You seem to be pursuing me like a virus. ;)

They can be sorted when it's absolutely clear whether they were won or lost.

Taylor Swift? Just wikipedia'd her and she has 5 albums!

Not my thing at all musically - but is she big enough to headline? Genuine question as I know little about her except her songs are pretty catchy.

Will there be a British headliner?

No concrete evidence to suggest anybody really - except that Swift has been bookies favourite for a while and Stone Roses got backed right in to 2/1 last week. Kanye's odds plummeted the week leading up to his announcement!

My hope is Stone Roses - no doubt it'll be Prince though.

TS is the first female artist in history to sell over four million copies of each album in the US. The current album has sold in excess of 6 million units worldwide and has only been out a few months. She's a worthy headliner on these terms alone.

Haha, oh you say that Emily is good but you take the biscuit Neil, you're brilliant. You always have an answer for everything. :P

Did she give you much time to interview her or had she been that good at getting you both talking about other things to completely forget about metallica?

She always comes across as though she knows what she is doing and she gets a lot of unwarranted stick.

Sales can't be the only yardstick otherwise One Direction should have headlined / or should do

it wasn't an interview, it was a brief chat at the end of a night we were both at, and she wasn't giving anything away about Metallica.

Shows you how good she is then. Even when she is out somewhere she has to keep her cards close to her chest. massive amount of respect from me. Especially for keeping this year so quiet.

Emily's quote seems as clear as it could be. When she made those comments its clear that Florence was not headlining. And if nothing has changed then that's that.

But as Neil says, its also possible to read into it that "Flo was booked on the possibility that she might headline but that someone bigger is playing above her."

Now IF something significant has since gone wrong with the booking of whoever was intended to play above her then it seems at least possible to read into the quote that Florence could end up headlining - this would not mean that Emily was lying at the time she made that comment, but simply that things had changed and that Florence had been bumped up.

But the fact remains that this would require something very significant to have changed and, although not impossible, hopefully its pretty unlikely to happen.
