agreed - I tried to make that clear in what I posted.

Low scoring I can go with too.

I just can't see Argentina winning, cos the Dutch have nothing to lose and the Argies have everything to lose. I think that'll come thru in how they both perform, much as Brazil buckled under the pressure last night.

I just think there's more chance of a big Dutch win than there is any argy win.

It'd be the ultimate insult if Argentina won it in Brazil, in a competition where Brazil got absolutely humiliated.

I don't think that would match 1950, when they got beat in the final by their tiny neighbours who weren't even good enough to qualify for the finals (they got there cos others withdrew).

Holland weren't great against Mexico either. I think people still have Spain in mind. There's been nothing between the 2 teams in the knockouts. I would quite like to see Holland to win a world cup, as I think they deserve a title for their contribution to the international game. I would personally include them in the top 5 international nations of all time with Brazil, Argentina, Germany and Italy.

Not quite. For me, anyway.

It's more that I have Robben in mind. I haven't watched every game (Rodrigez passed me by completely, for example), but for me he's been the outstanding player of the tournament, the one who's most lived up to what we know he's capable of (and I don't only mean diving :P).

Holland winning would be hard to swallow as it would undoubtedly feature some kind of play-acting from Robben. Neither Germany or Argentina have any particularly annoying or undeserving characters.

It has absolutely no bearing on man utd though, that's what winds me up about the utd fans. There's only RVP who even plays at the club so yeah I suppose you could make something about their partnership but that's it. Maybe he will go in for Vlaar aswel

At the same time, people are acting as if a defeat for Holland is a defeat for Man United, when both teams are two seperate entities. On a Leeds forum I post on there are a few people wanting Holland to lose purely because "they have scum c**ts in their team", when England have had more MUFC personnel this World Cup than Holland. Rooney, Welbeck, Jones and Smalling, compared to just Van Gaal and Van Persie.

To be fair to Man United fans, if fans of any other team watched their soon-to-be manager get a side to the semis of the World Cup, demolishing Spain on the way, they'd be giddy and overly optimistic as well.

    • Any festival is going to face most of the same limitations just by the nature of the event. It's not realistic to accommodate custom staging that extends out deep into the field. Trying to do so and trying to rebuild those kind of structures at the front of the field every day would severely impact on other performers, potentially even including other headliners. It'd also drive everyone involved insane. The most you can get away with is a basic extension that doesn't hide anything fancy. Remember that a lot of the time on these big choreographed shows, the stage extension itself will contain all manner of things to help the show beyond just being a simple platform. Also remember that these structures are designed to be assembled and operate on perfectly flat stadium or arena floors.   In terms of the stage itself - yes, the Pyramid is undersized (I believe 16 metres wide at rigging level). The de facto industry standard has become 20 metres and so it likely does need increasing and apparently there are plans to do so. But that only helps with artists that can largely confine themselves to the stage.   The Other Stage is already 20 metres - to be exact the Other Stage structure is the same model that Serious Stages provide to Reading, Leeds, Download etc for use as their Main Stage and there's nothing larger (at least off the shelf) in their catalogue. So no reason to change that.
    • Can someone remind me, on Harry Styles specifically - have we had any concrete info on him?   I don't personally remember saying much/anything on him, though I have just been away for a month, so could be forgetting something.
