As a fan I'd love to see them headline this year, certainly over some of the numerous acts suggested so far, but I think their time will come in 2015.

Does their own gig a few days before make them less likely though? Seems a bit big for a Glastonbury warm-up? If they were playing somewhere a little more intimate I would have said they'd be more likely to headline this year.

As a fan I'd love to see it but can understand why people would find it a bit uninspiring. The amount of time's they have headlined over festivals seems to go against them but isn't seen as an issue for other bands. They would put there hearts and soul into it though, songs are popular enough and they do put on a really good show imo.

The prospect of Stone Roses and Kasabian headlining Glastonbury must have the music snobs sick to the pit of their stomachs :D On a serious note the poster who said that Kasabian wouldn't take up much of the budget that could then be used on someone massive raised a good point!

Glastonbury usually gets headliners that have either just started their tour or have been inactive for a while, therefor making their headline spot special in that you haven't been able to see them live for a good year+ prior. Kasbian being everywhere all the time just makes them seem like a dull booking since everybody who's wanted to see them has had multiple chances over the last three years or so. they never seemed to stop touring / headlining festivals

of course to a big fan of the band, that means nothing (and if anything is a bonus) but to a regular festival goer (or non-fan) seeing Kasabian's name at the top of another festival lineup seems very uninspired

that haven't whored themselves out to a stupid level to every other festival over the past few years? every other band who could possibly headline the festival ever

edit: a part of me wants to delay them headlining as much as possible, but another part of me wants them to just get it over with so they can be out of the way for a good few years

I thought about this when the rumours were going around last week, and I think it would just be too much for them to do both.

1) There are 50,000 tickets for this 'homecoming' gig. Anyone who has wanted to see Kasabian in the last few years, probably has already. I can't see those tickets selling out very quickly.

2) They would need new material to headline Glastonbury in my view. I just can't see them touring that effing Velociraptor album for a third year running. Big 'ten year' celebration, I can't see new material coming.

3) Glasto HQ surely recognise they've been EVERYWHERE in the last few years, don't they? I dunno, maybe that doesn't factor in any decision.

I think they'll do it in 2015 - when a new album is released - but not next year. Saying that, the gig is exactly a week before any potential headline set, and the whole 'summer solstice' theme makes me think I might be wrong.

Tell you what, get Led Zeppelin on board and I'm in :)

    • Generally shorter too, I imagine. 🙂
    • Will that work for arenas with seats? People will have their tickets on their phones and needs to find their seat.
    • Excellent new release from overpass today - well worth checking out.
    • Having lived here for 2 and a half years now my take is that security, safety and organisation are just not a priority in Spain. It's not even exclusive to festivals. It's a part of everything.   Simple example. I'm Irish and in Ireland if you assemble a construction site you have to adhere to a lot of regulations about cordoning off the site so nobody can enter and get injured. Here, you're walking down the foot path and suddenly without any warning you're in a construction site. If not, you'll suddenly find yourself directed onto the road to get around the construction.   Life is more laid back here in general. Pros and cons.
