Kasabian...

Kasabian have just announced a huge homecoming gig in Leicester on June 21st... Could be followed by a huge Glasto slot the following weekend? They did make it very clear last year that they want to do it.

Suspect there will be mixed reactions to this possibility!!

The reactions will probably be the same as in all the other Kasabian discussions - a readily-available, eager and predictable headliner with mass-appeal but which brings very little excitement to the line-up due to how often they are doing festivals/concerts (and that's coming from a massive fan).

Not sure whether this gig makes them more or less likely, probably neither.

Looks likely I think :D.....but then they done just HRC this year with just a few warm up shows so it's entirely possible they would be willing to do this gig on it's own in the summer before the Arena tour.

Apparently they want to have their new album out by then to:

The band are currently working on their fifth album, and hope to release it in time for the Victoria Park show.

King if kings? No, you're right.. I do feel the expectation is higher than Kasabian though.. I rarely see a headliner but they don't fit in with Young, Blur, U2, Stones, Wonder status of recent years, at all..

Maybe I'm in a minority but for me, they're a very predictable middle of the road indie band..

You make it sound like Glasto only has headliners like Young, Wonder, U2 and The Stones. They fit in perfectly with the likes of the Arctics, Mumford, KOL, Muse and The Killers.

And yes they're predictable middle of the road indie, but why do you think that isn't suitable?

If Arcade Fire are a given for Friday, which is what near enough everybody is saying, Kasabian would be Saturday headliner.. That's the situation I couldn't see them being in.. To me, Arcade Fire then Kasabian is very uninspiring..

Not saying Glastonbury only pulls in those huge names. That's not what the festival is about..

If Kasabian were headlining, I'd go and see them.... I've seen them 6 times before and they always put on a brilliant show, I always walk away having had a good time, and whilst they are "middle of the road" indie, their music is really suited to a festival set (especially if it's raining).

The problem is, that they aren't exciting. Not because they aren't good, but because they have headlined every other festival... They are just around too much at the moment.

    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
    • Yeah, I admit that a small part of me felt relieved when they announced that MA are canceled.. But on the positive side- got to see Florence Road afterall, and they were great
    • Glad I could take the €3 bus to Playa Catalunya! Hope y'all warm and dry up.
