Lineup 2015

Frank Turner will likely do an arena tour early next year so you could argue a case for him being a sub. Weezer aren't subs though.

Just to add to that Frank Turner has already done an arena tour this year, I don't see him as a sub just yet but they will probably bump him up anyway.

True. It had whatever-the-level-is-below-arena stops too though and I can see the next one just being all arenas. It doesn't seem quite right that he actually moves up to the prominent logo on poster slots on the 8th album or whatever it is after playing every other slot on the bill but I dunno.

Talking of arena tours; I think Royal Blood will be onto arenas next tour if they bother doing a tour after summer or something. If they stay as popular as they are then I can certainly see them headlining R+L on the second album. Trouble is they've shown how limited their sound can be on this album so fuck knows what they can do to keep the next one from flopping.

Royal Blood's next album could be unlistenable garbage and it won't flop (although i imagine they'll stick very close to the current formula). i doubt there'll be a huge gap between albums (could even arrive next year) and the momentum will be kept up. people are absolutely losing their minds over them at the moment. haven't seen such levels of silly fandom since Arctic Monkeys

The thing about Royal Blood is that they're a good band, but are they producing anything original or innovative? Just listen to Kyuss instead.

Seems the latest fad is 90s revival, especially these bands who are obsessed with being "grunge" like Wolf Alice and Peace. If Viva Brother were around just a few years later everyone would love them.

I think you may be the one obsessed about that.

Wolf Alice are good though

Exactly. They're not. But because they dress a bit scruffy I've seen reviews label them as grunge revival. It's bogus but that's the current trend.

The current trend is for shoddy journalism to put an inaccurate label on a band? That's not just a current trend.

Wait, you're complaining about trends and then talk about Viva Brother, a band who jumped from genre/style every 10 mins.

Just spotted this which translated basically says that the German Eventim site dropped a big clue that Linkin Park will be playing a German (probably festival) date a couple of weeks before R+L next year. Could obviously be an error or just false but worth thinking about considering we've chewed over them being the 'non-regular' and 'top 10 album' act Melvin was on about.

And they were promoting the shit out of them at the fest this year.

    • We head out in the morning. Couple of nights in New York then up to Boston. Enjoy the games lads and hopefully we get some great football to take our minds off the whole shitshow off the pitch.
    • White Stripes/QotSA at Harewood 2007, Tramlines (and Blue Dot, same weekend) in '23, and Elbow at Jodrell Bank '13.
    • Yeah exactly, the shock moments, group layouts, etc all end up playing out differently once you get into the tournament. However you tweak it, you don't predict shocks.
