With already a few shared act's with this festival (and it being on the same weekend as Lat) I'd like to hope a few of these acts will be playing latitude.

Darkside, Wolf Alice and Of Montreal in particular

Also could Pixies sub? They're playing quite a few smaller festivals around Latitude that I would have thought they were too big for (field day, that one in Manc where James is the other headliner?!?) To be honest I could see it happening.

Seeing as the "subs" over the past 2 festivals have been Metronomy, Laura Marling, Ben Howard, The Maccabees, Hot Chip and Grizzly Bear, I would say it's massively unlikely they'd play the same slot.

Yep. I think the opportunity to see the Pixies next summer is now ample, so (circumstances permitting) you've only yourselves to blame!

I think White Lies are a good shout for sub. Debatable whether they still have much pull at all, and from a personal point of view they bore me senseless, but they're touring at the time and they've played third and headlined the Word Arena so I think it'd be within both parties' interests.

Truck and Latitude don't seem to ever share acts so that probably rules White Lies out. But that also means...

Is it just me who has picked up on the fact that James are the guest on the Lauren Laverne show on 6Music on Thursday

The final Latitude headliner announcement is supposed to be Thurs, Lauren has usually made Latitude announcements on her show, and she did mention that James would have some news when they came in...

Personally not too bothered about James either way, but thought it might be worth pointing out as a possibility.

Oh and it fits in whith their schedule too - they are at a festival in Portugal on the Fri of Latitude, but nothing on the Sat or Sun, with Sun being the free headline spot for Latitude.

I think you're right and they will probably be there but I couldn't see them headlining. Doubt they'd be big enough with the Latitude demo. Headlining the Word Stage against one of the younger acts is probably about right.

Pretty much spot on.

They headlined kendal calling last year which is around 15,000, isn't latitude nearly treble that?

2 acts headlining from the 90s is a bit over kill.

ok sounds like a good call - maybe with their back catalogue the Sunday late afternoon 'greatest hits' spot a la Simple Minds and OMD in previous years?

just seems odd she would have them in if it weren't a headline announcment.

Maybe I'm getting carried away as I am from the 80/90s myself. The first time I saw James was supporting The Smiths - god I'm old lol - but I have to agree would be slightly underwhelming as a main headliner.

The Latitude line up just seems to be lacking a certain something this year - and James would not really overcome that imho

Never got chance to see The Smiths, just not quite that old haha.

They're not even headlining R+L's NME stage so it'd be more than a little bit weak. Bombay would've been more suitable.

I think it'd be good though, they deserve it more than Two Door.

There's no way Metronomy will be headlining Latitude. I know it's not exactly a major, but it's not THAT small.

Still saying Metronomy. The thought of Black Keys, Two Door Cinema Club and Damon Albarn is just to horrendous to imagine.
