Latitude 2014

I think Damon just said to Lamacq that he'd be using one of the tracks he wrote for Womack in his set. Can't see there being more than two Blur tracks if he's representing such a wide back catalogue of stuff.

Quite right as well, he's got such a body of work he doesn't need to do a Noel Gallagher.

I think you're right there Dom, they followed up playing third down at R+L in 2012 with playing third down at Rock Ness and Bestival last year. Probably safe to say FR jumped the gun in 2012.

Another pretty crap announcement for me. H&O would be fun, and Slowdive should be great, but Bombay is just adding to the run of the mill indie pop thing they're doing this year.

The lineup's okay, but there's nobody that's really got any big pull factor (assuming Damon plays elsewhere, which he probably will). Lots of very run of the mill festival bands that are fine, but you can see all the time (apart from Slowdive, of course!)

Bombay are playing 4th down at that 6music festival, as well, aren't they?

I think Sunday will be The Black Keys subbed by Tame Impala (unless they're confirmed for another day?). Seems a good fit to me.

The placings at the 6music festival won't have much of a science to it. I think HAIM are playing before Midlake, which wouldn't happen normally I don't think. They could sub TBK but I don't think it's any different to them subbing any other act.

Something like this possible?

Two Door Cinema Club

Tame Impala

HAIM

Halle & Oates

Slowdive

The Notwist

Damon Albarn

White Lies

Robyn + Royksopp

Warpaint

Metronomy

Chromeo

The Black Keys

Bombay Bicycle Club

The Hold Steady

Billy Bragg

Janelle Monae

Caribou

Well yeah they could sub anyone, but they both share a bit of a bluesy style. I think Bombay into TDCC and Tame Impala into The Black Keys is more likely than what you have above.

Yeah that all looks possible. I think Julian Casablancas may headline the second stage, though. I was thinking Röyksopp and Robyn would headline second stage, but I have no idea about them really.

Oh right. I wouldn't consider them bluesy, personally. I don't really think it matters much about coupling acts together by subgenre or whatever, I just threw them on there.

Yeah, each to their own but i cannot stand the line-up so far. I'd be excited by royksopp & robin as well as hall & oates but that's about it. If we get black keys, white lies, chromeo and metronomy i'll be slightly happier but at this stage i'll be giving it a miss despite the fact all of my friends are going.

Ben Howard headlining the somersault festival on the same weekend as Latitude, personally I think he'll probably wait another year or two and come back to headline, but I guess this news means he is (sadly) in the running as the 3rd sub (presuming BBC/Tame Impala are both subbing)

    • I've been attending Primavera every year since my first one in 2017 & it's always been my favourite week of the year, but I think things have changed.   Firstly, the site just feels too busy in this current set-up. I'm sure it was a lot easier back in 2017-19 to get between the stages & then a good spot for the next one, but now you increasingly have to sacrifice parts of a set or miss them out completely to plan for later on. I wish we still had the Bits area over the bridge to spread everyone out.   But the main issue is the talking, it's always been here but this year it's been relentless & I just can't tolerate it any more. It's at every stage, and everywhere from the front to the back, there is no escape. Not focusing on nationalities, but a major dynamic now seems to be groups of people who are only focusing on their own good time & aren't interested if this affects anyone else. It seems essential that all members of the group are together at the same time, so it's people making telephone calls, people on shoulders waving phone torches, people barging through. It's alright, I'm only trying to watch The Cure here.   I will have a year away to think about it. I thought might give up completely but yesterday was a bit of a classic day after two unenjoyable ones. Adding Olivia Rodrigo to Baxter Dury, Gelli Haha, The XX, Gorillaz & Kneecap shows how good it can be, but as with everything, it's always the people that have the biggest impact.
