I still can't decide.

I've seen The Arctic Monkeys and Portishead.

Both at Glastonbury.

Portishead in '95 in the acoustic has gone down as a legend so not sure if they will measure up again, but could well get into that trip hop vibe.

I've kind of lost interest in The Arctics since their second album but guitar bands are kind of my thing. They were also great (was it '07?).

Nile Rodgers is a great guitarist and I do enjoy proper old school disco, it's likely to be a proper greatest hits set, plus West Holts has its own special vibe. (which may be down to the Brothers).

Isn't Steve Winwood on the Friday as well? Also a legend, but there are so many bands 'round my way that cover his stuff, I feel like I've seen him half a dozen times already.

What do you think?

I have no interest whatsoever in Arctic Monkeys

Chic would be great fun, but it'd more for a laugh than a life changing musical memory.

I saw Portishead for the first time at Coachella in 2008 and they were absolutely spectacular, They headlined and it totally worked on the big stage. Seeing as its been 5 years since then, Portishead get my vote!

Likewise I have no interest in Arctics or Portishead so this was an easy one for me. The Chic Excitement thread on here swung it too as I didn't know much about them or what they do these days initially. Still working on persuading my mates! One down, five to go...

I'd say Chic as you've not seen them and it will be a party.

Would love to see Portishead but I'm gonna watch Arctic Monkeys. They were incredible when I saw them at Cardiff arena and I sort of fancy going for someone I reckon I'll definitely enjoy for my first Glasto headliner.

I'd recommend watching a bit of Arctic Monkeys and if you decide you want a change head over to Portishead

I dont think I'm going to see any of these 3 acts and pick something from one of the smaller stages, will make a spontaneous decision at the time.

Actics dont do much for me, Chic is not really my kind of thing and portishead....much as I liked them in the 90s I just dont fancy it.

I'll probably end up wherever my friends want to be. Even if it turns out to be arctics I wont be that bothered.

In short: meh

I'm going to see Portishead, as i've never seen them, and have heard amazing things.

I recommend seeing Chic as you haven't seen them yet, and i think it will be a fantastic party. Also, a little birdie has mentioned that they have been learning 'Get Lucky' at rehearsals too.

I'm pretty torn on this clash, and may well end up at Chic, you never know where the vibe will take you at Glasto. Either way it is sure to be amazing!!!

I will be at Portishead as I have never gone to a gig of theirs but as you have you may wanna check out Chic and have a party

I think IMO its obvious not to even entertain the Artics so its between the other two for you as I see it from what you post.

You could always see what sort of mood you are in that evening and base your choice on that. If you want a bop then bop all the way over to West Holts. But if not pushed about dancing; want something more "cerebral" and you want to see if something special happens then there is no other place to be than the Other*.......

*Not 100% true, as special things will more than likely be happening all over the site, at that one time, in parallel.

For me this poll needs a 'haven't got a clue' option or something similar....my head is near exploding at this 2 way clash (Portishead vs Chic)...will probably just see how I feel on the day!

I will be going to see Portishead , i haven't seen them before and in 95 the obviously had not released the Third album, the set will be very different and i reckon it will be a seminal gig not to be missed, this is the last time i reckon they will play G.

Can't get into the Arctics as the poster has said after the second album it all went a bit meh for me.

Now Chic i would love to be at and as i have previously harped on about they should be closing on Sunday....... just for me :) but i must see Portishead. The rest of my lot will be a Chic and out of 7 of us i will be Mr lonely for a couple of hours:) I have convinced myself that there will be a lot of dad dancing to Kareoke wedding songs :) where as Portishead will be a unique experience .

I can't profess to be a particular fan but I'm surprised there aren't more folks mentioning the arctics, just based on how much they gave a massively needed adrenaline shot to the Olympic opening ceremony. I thought they were spectactular and were so welcome after macca had been a bit of a disappointment.

There are plenty into the Arctics but they seem to be quiet enough. A third of the poll thus far are going and 20% recommend them, albeit a small sample size, yet few of these folk post comment.

Chic for me, although i'm constantly wrestling with it in my head. probably the one time at the festival when whatever choice i'll make i'll be thinking 'damn should i have gone to see ***?'

plus the fact that i'm considering going to Bestival and so could see Chic there (well... unless they clash there as well)

definitely gonna have to just go with the swing of things. i definitely won't go and see Arctics but i must admit i'll be sad to miss them. think they'll nail it
