Spindles
Not seeing the £15 off thing at all. My bad, I saw the RRP thing and figured it was £15 off as I thought I'd recently seen a banner mentioning some reductions. It shows an RRP of £54.
toppo
I'm looking to buy a pop-up tent for 1 person for Glastonbury. My assumption is that I need one that will be fine if it rains, and will have a front section that will stop me dragging rain water all over the bedding area. I've found the following which looks good value ... does it look good value to everyone else, or do you suggest anything else? http://www.decathlon.co.uk/2seconds-xxl-ii-tent-id_8205983.html Just to add if you do get this from decathlon tgeir customer services is second to none. Lent my pop up to my brother who was clueless on how to put it away so forced it and snapped a pole. Took it to decathlon to see if it could be fixed only for them to replace it without question. I also recommed you practice putting it away a few times to get the hang of it before you use it

However, I'm still looking for alternatives to buy, but I'm surprised by how few pop-up tents seem to have porches!! Won't I need a porch section to avoid soaking the inside when returning in the rain, or am I missing an alternative solution?

A porch is great for leaving muddy boots and wet coats to keep your sleeping area clean and dry, pretty essential imo. If you can't get a porch then keep a bin bag handy which you can step into and remove your boots in, then just leave them there until you need to put them on again. But all this is irrelavant as its going to be sunny :-)

They generally need to be symmetrical, for the pop up feature to work and a symmetrical tent doesn't lend itself to having a porch included. As a matter of interest, I have an old pop up tent that I've used for years. It doesn't have a porch but I use a separate porch canopy made by Gelert. http://www.funkyleisure.co.uk/gelert-mini-tent-canopy---charcoal-3507-p.asp Edited February 22, 2014 by johnny-yen
rischbrit
Vango pop up 300 ds is good. Has a porch and sewn in groundsheet. Can be pricey though but I think we got ours on amazon half price at around £

YES size up, go for a two manner so you have space for some stuff or three if you're a beast of a fellow but a FOUR man tent? There's a reason the camping ends up crowded

There's a reason the camping ends up crowdedAlso -Please can everyone remember that whatever you bring with you, you're going to have to carry a significant distance on both Wednesday and Monday morning. It's got to the stage now where I find it pretty much impossible to find any sympathy for anyone struggling with their kit. There's way too many people who turn up carrying tents that are clearly 3 times heavier than they need to be, with seemingly their entire wardrobe crammed into a rucksack and 8 slabs of beer taped to a 5 quid aldi trolley that breaks into 4 pieces the moment it hits a pebble. My advice - You've got a long walk ahead of you. Then you have to do it again on the Monday when you'll likely be knackered. Choose your tent (and everything else) accordingly.
frostypaw
Tis right - biggest camping bargain? BRING LESS SHIT! I might take some photos this year of abandoned sites and roughly total up what's been left behind. It's HUNDREDs and hundreds of pounds worth astonishingly often. The best bargain hint still is if it's your first time borrow a simple re-usable tent off a camping-friendly buddy and then grab your own nice one from the deserted ones at the end for next year. Brave Sir Robin
Still not cheap, but if you've got a bit of money to spend on some quality gear North Face have got a pretty decent sale on: http://www.thenorthface.co.uk/
JWT
Does anybody have experience with a fold up wheelbarrow like the one below? There'll be three of us in a small car so we won't have room for a normal one. Just wondering if it's worth doing this or just doing a second trip to the car for booze after everything is set up? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Blackspur-50kg-Folding-Wheelbarrow/dp/B008TQP02U/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1393946390&sr=8-1&keywords=folding+wheelbarrow

evilduck
Just bought myself a new tent as my old one was starting to come apart at the back. I found a Gelert Cabana 4 for £85! http://www.fieldandtrek.com/gelert-cabana-4-tent-789105?colcode=78910590 It looks nice and roomy, I'll have to put it up for a test when it arrives. Yoghurt on a Stick
I don't suppose tents have to look aesthetically pleasing, but that one abuses it's right to be ugly.

Isn't that just a really large umbrella without the handle You could just have bought a really large umbrella and wacked the handle into the ground with a mallet to keep it fixed to the ground. innerspeaker
I'm selling my 2 man pop up tent from last year as getting a bigger tent for more of us! It's up on eBay if anyone is after a second hand one. Cost me £70 last year and only used it at glastonbury! http:///1f7Wckm

If you have no luck selling yours then maybe you'd consider a swap? The only reason I mention it is because I know people who need a two man tent and I can find no use for the 4 man that I have, which was bought on a whim. I'm in Birmingham, so not so very far away if you wantedto comsider it. Now worries either way.
