Had a quick look on setlist.fm and beyonce played Madison square garden on the friday then glastonbury sunday. Morrisey played york the day after playing and biffy clyro were in finland on the sunday after playing glastonbury on the friday. So it just shows bands can't be ruled out simply because they have a show on the other side of the world ( in beyoncey's case ) . Bands/Acts make a big portion of their money from playing live so they can't really be turning down gigs when the works there.

They have two lots of staging - it's cheaper than flying it across the pond. A European set up and an American set up.

In Kraftwerk's case playing European dates moving their set up that soon is unlikely, if they use the 3D set, I suspect, it couldn't be moved and set up again in time.

No, you're missing the point. It's not every act, its act that specifically rely on their set and staging as an integral part of their show, something which Morrissey and biffy don't do. A day is maybe just about enough time, if you have replicas of stuff, York, is nothing, but its virtually impossible to be done if you have one set which requires lots of set up and you're playing somewhere three or more hours away.

The whole point of the Kraftwerk show is the set.

Edit: Basically what Scottie said.

Post of the year! laugh.png

It's obvious it can be done, if the act has a will to do it, but it just makes everything a more unlikely that they will bother if they are playing far away on glasto weekend.

As for the moany one, there seemed to be lot of effort to get him as he moved some dates around aswell didn't he? Maybe u2 asked for him to sub them?

Was it not the case that Elbow were originally due to sub U2, with Kanye being a sub on another day. When they found out that Kanye was a Big Chill exclusive they went for Morrissey? (Who presumably either didn't want to play 2 nights in a row/play below Coldplay or Beyonce), hence Moz swapping some dates around, and moving Elbow to the Saturday...
