strummer77
Or you have some rose tinted specs on He was all right at best, he never would have got in the Utd or Chelsea sides over that period
Benj
Think you have blue ones on. He was the mainstay in the best defence in the league during that period. If I had rose tinted I wouldn't be arguing he's anything other than shite since 2009.
pink_triangle
I am going to sit on the fence and say both Carragher and Brown were pretty similar, both able to do an efficient job with a btter player alongside them. Not an insult to either, not everyone can be a Canavarro. I look at both in a similar way to Steve Bruce, he was far from amazing but knew his job and did it. May not be enough at top class champions league and international level but good enough against most sides.
lharris92
good news guys! Joseph S Blatter @SeppBlatter After last night’s match #GLT is no longer an alternative but a necessity.

lharris92
But it was offside!! goal line technology would take away the karma of football!
strummer77
The best defence in who's eyes? Utd and Chelsea both conceded less in 08-09, if you'd had one of their defences you'd had probably won the league that year. LondonTom
yes i know, its just the irony that blatter announces that after a goal line decision goes englands way...
kaosmark2
All I'm arguing is he was better than Wes Brown... Hardly rose tinted glasses! It was an almost unanimous consensus during the period.
kaosmark2
Ah I get you now didn't think of it like that, to be fair he did say it was needed after our one last world cup didn't he?

eFestivals
Just realised... Man City haven't bought anyone yet have they? Waiting on RVP? if the papers are to be believed, they need to offload several of their current strikers before Mancini is allowed to go out and buy another. Supposedly they're trying to offload all of Tevez, Dzeko, Adebayor, Santa Clause, and I think there might have been another one along with that too. The supposed word from north London is that they'll happily take £30M for RVP, but anything less and he stays.
pink_triangle
I prefer Sami and I think Carragher is a limited player who had just a few years of playing football at a 'top level'. The rest of his career he's been a trier, but often a liability. All I'm arguing is he was better than Wes Brown... Hardly rose tinted glasses! It was an almost unanimous consensus during the period. strummer77
They have to get rid of a few first. They still own players like Santa Cruz whos wages they're paying.
TheGayTent
By christ there's some bias on display here. Carragher in his prime was considerably better than Brown in his prime.

eFestivals
talking about a waste, aquilani is returning to liverpool as they cant find a buyer. same with Joe Cole. I can't remember if Cole was Rafa's doing or not, but there's been quite a few of his signings that Liverpool haver struggled to get rid of. At least with Cole there's a small chance that he might slot back in. But a good season in France isn't so far away from a good season in Scotland. The Nal
Such a bizarre way this has been handled. Maybe we over payed but then we misused him, then alienated him, then sent him out on a loan rather than selling him before buggering up the selling of him. Now we've messed up so much everyone knows we need to get rid so won't pay a penny for him. A complete farce from beginning to end.
