Olympic squad's been decided. Bellamy, Giggs and Micah for the older players. Not got the list of younger ones yet.

Sensible choices I guess, a striker, midfielder and defender. Be interesting who the first choice keeper is.

I think it's good that they haven't. Surprising, but he's not in the best 3 British players over 23 that didn't go to the Euros. Whether the ones picked are is debatable, but I'd say Chris Brunt should have been ahead of him.

That said if your going for a big name over 23 not at the euros, Giggs is by far the better player to have for the midfield now days.

Not sure I would have picked Bellamy either...

If your going to pick a player with a little view to sentiment then i think better Giggs who has never played in an international tournament than Beckham who ha splayed in several and been pretty average in most.

Personally I'd have had no problem with Beckham in it. Would have been a decent role model for the young'uns, rewarded him for his work on the bid, shifted the loads of extra tickets and its not like one player would have made a lot of difference. I don't like overly sentimental decisions, but I would have in this case been fine with it.

Why Richards though? He refused his England place, shouldn't be rewarding him with this.

To be fair though, if your on standby its highly unlikely your going even be brought on as a sub! So can understand from that sort of view why he might not want to be on standby.

Its not like he was called up to the main squad.

dont follow football any more BUT Beckham def should of been in the Olympic squad as some one else said hes done loads over the years and should have been rewarded with this honour ...IMO
