Lineup 2014

Well I don't know if they tour much so they could just make a whole summer out of it. I dunno, I just saw them on the front page and suggested it to escape the monotony of discussing how bad theories and patterns are.

Well their UK tour consisted of the 1 London date a few weeks ago so I don't think they are the touring type but who knows.

*edit* my bad, they did 3 shows on their uk tour after checking.

Placebo, Bring me the Horizon, Cage the elephant, Gaslight anthem and band of skulls. Anyone got anything that would either point towards or against these bands playing?

Bring Me The Horizon have mainland European fests booked during one day of Download and Soni so that may free them up for R&L.

Yeah I imagine they'd just do one London date or something in July if they were touring but hey ho.

  • Placebo - maybe, they used to be a R+L staple but have slipped down and wouldn't have played in *sigh* five years. Possibility though!
  • BMTH - probably, someone said they heard they have been asked to come back and play the main stage again. Not sure about the reliability of that but it'd be a strange rumour to try and spread.
  • Cage the Elephant - yes. They often play R+L when promoting a new album and seem like they'll be doing the second half of summer. Would be surprised if they didn't play.
  • The Gaslight Anthem - yes. They play R+L as much as possible and, with a new album out next year, you can count on it.
  • Band of Skulls - very likely. Play the festivals a fair bit and, again, new album. Providing Sonisphere don't snap them up you can pencil them in.

Hmm then they can come back next year

The Black Keys subbing AM would be amazing

Arctic Monkeys were pretty dull last time they played R/L, and The Black Keys were bordering on very dull the last time they were there. So unless both have improved dramatically, I doubt very much that I'd be amazed, or even that interested, at the prospect of watching them back to back.

I'm more of a morrisons man myself. Although Waitrose is by far the nicest food. When I'm rich I'll shop there

I hate Morrisons. Their fruit is just utterly tasteless. Own-brand bread is poor as well. Asda's definitely the best quality of the cheap lot, and outdoes Sainsburys on a few things. My main problem with them is they rarely have interesting things on offer, so it's harder to vary meals.

I'm LOLing at the poor souls that were trapped in for Eminem and how dangerous the C&S crowd was. Is everybody on this forum still crossing the road holding their mum's hand? The most dangerous thing was the puddles.

I know!

I'd like to say I'm surprised that the only comment made in the last 16 hours that I feel worth responding to is about supermarket preference, but that just wouldn't be true.

WHAT HAVE WE COME TO?

Very true it must be said, now I'm not going I will be back on my r&l forum hiatus shortly..

I thought the '5 year rule' was the Metallica thing. I just don't expect bands to play with a shorter gap than that as it's boring. Even if Muse were booked for 2015 I'd think it was a boring booking, as it's so soon after they last headlined, even though I'd enjoy it.

How can it be boring, if you will enjoy it? :P

I doubt its possible every year to make sure they don't repeat a headliner to soon (evidently), its like bands are supposed to disappear and be forgotten about once they have headlined a festival. People complain about the same headliners, but if any one else is suggested outside of the usual crowd, people start complaining they are to small...

It's a no win situation, so they put on any band which will shift tickets.

To be fair, didn't something happen with the barrier during C&S?

Prepare for a true revelation:

I don't like Nandos.

You have no soul

    • 13th Primavera (Thursday was definitely making me feel like this was the cursed year).  Blood Orange was such a party by the end of their set but we all knew that rain storm was approaching.  So gutted Massive Attack didn't play after the false hope of a new rescheduling, especially knowing that Elizabeth Fraser & Horace Andy were backstage with them!  Managed a bit of Melt Banana but was just so over the weather by that point.   Friday was awesome, Rilo Kiley were so much fun.  Never big the biggest Cure fan but made the effort for them & Robert Smith sounds like he did back in the 80s.  PinkPantheress & Viagra Boys were also great.   The highlight for me was Sudan Archives on the Saturday, she was stunning & with the Olivia Rodrigo surprise set too it made up for the Thursday sh*t show.  Dijon & Knocked Loose also superb.   Shoutout to Cardiacs on the Tuesday too, they were so LOUD, played a storming set.
    • OK, never mind, I'll take normal Nine Inch Nails.
    • Probably my least favourite of the five editions I've been to, but still plenty good enough for me to go again. Weirdly, I was just totally running out of stamina a lot earlier into the night than I remember happening in the past. I feel like I missed a lot of the weirder sets on the smaller stages as I was just totally cooked. Not Primavera's fault, obviously. Maybe I'm just getting old - or maybe I need to pace my drinking better...   Anyway - is David Byrne a realistic get for next year? Certainly hoping so.
    • watching clips of the cure in Barcelona, wow 2 hours 25 minute set. That's gonna be tough on the Sunday but can't bloody wait for it
