Lineup 2014

You have to remember though, 2010 being four years ago

If someone went when they were 18, they'd be 22 now... do you reckon they'd really care who is headlining reading?

plus the sheer amount of new comers would overshadow the point...

I actually don't think there's anything wrong with repeats, it's been widely agreed its a festival aimed at the 16-21 market.

So a good portion of who will go will not of seen blink 182 in 2010, also another good portion of the crowd will only go to a few festivals and then not bother again not seen blink 182 also.

Let's take rock werchter they repeat bands I've never seen before. For example KOL played 5 times since 2007, editors 3 tines in the last 4 years, pearl jam if announce 3 times in 5 years and Rock Werchter still sells out well in advance.

It's about getting the best lineup and not just paying for exclusive bands, saying this if your going to repeat bands blink isn't the best example to start with.

Yeah but it's just hard to swallow that the festival doesn't want us anymore. :(

Paramore actually sounded really good when I saw them on their last tour, the crowd was absolutely crap though. That's why I was let down, so it wasn't really anything the band did wrong at all. Just the crowd full of kids (13/14yr olds) which won't be an issue at Leeds.

I've just been let down two out of the three times I've seen them, so I will only give them another chance if nobody else I want to watch is on against them. Or if I'm proper steaming and feel like a good ol' teenage singalong.

For some reason it's only Reading that gets so much shit for recylcing acts, when festivals like V rebook bands after three years and no one bats an eyelid.

Download is the worst for recycling bands, but when Reading re-book paramore or Two door cinema club (not even headlining acts remember) they get the shit ripped out of them for being "unoriginal".

Well yeah I guess that's what makes us the minority. I've been going to reading since 2005, so years on I do care about which bands headline. But you're right, a lot of people there wouldn't have been to 2010 so for them they are fresh. Although I pity society if kids born in 1998/99 listen and love blink...

It's why we don't go to those fests ;). Although you have to feel sorry for download because if andy books a band that isn't hard rock or metal to headline he gets shit for it. And there's only so many hard rock / metal headliner sized bands around.

I don't really feel sorry for a man that makes shit tonnes of money every year from a festival...

I don't even feel sorry for him this year, whether it will sell out or not doesn't matter... he'l still pocket a fair amount and smile about it.

I actually don't have any beef with copping. I think he tries to do the best he can, and is for the most part good with fans who constantly abuse him on twitter. It's obviously not an easy job - and I have no idea how much money he makes.

He's better then Melvin as well, who chats horrendous amounts of shit.

Who else could of possibly headlined who are touring?

Basically seems to be the issue for most Festival's at the moment based on rumors and predictions. About the only interesting headliner that hasn't toured loads over the last year or two is Arcade Fire. (and then for Reading, they only done it in 2010...)

No it's not, it's just expected with the other festivals though. Look at T In the Park and the running joke they have about the Killers being the house band or the shit they got for booking Kasabian again in 2012 after doing it in 2010.

Oh I don't know your going to Titp and that's gets a lot of stick for repeats especially headliners.

I don't see anyone really complaining about arctic monkeys being back, even when they played 2011.

I don't see anyone saying, "hey they only played 3 years ago" anywhere...

Same as loads of people hoping for Arctic Monkeys for Reading tbh, they seem to have a get out of jail free card but seem to tour as much as Kasabian.

T rebook far to often and they have an decent size headline pool so I don't really get it

I'd be kinda okay with that lineup but that friday mainstage would be the worst lineup of any Uk festival ever.

I don't care if the headliner pool for R&L is supposedly getting smaller (its still probably the biggest bar Glasto) getting a band back to headline after just four years is lazy, boring and a massive fucking cop out. I'd say exactly the same if it was Arcade Fire, Pulp or The Cure.

Its ok for me. It just seems a bit boring for me. Also BMTH between Jake Bugg and Peace would be interesting

Ah there is so many downfalls to it for me, I think the Download main stage area is so much better and that's coming from me. If you're camped in green to go round all the time and out for lidl and even water is stupid!

    • Been last time in 2018 when the festival was happening in parque Bela vista. ls the new location good for such a big festival? What's the temperature in the evening near Tejo? Should we bring a raincoat or a jacket?
