I'm getting a little bit sick of people suggesting such high metal acts.

Look I hate to be the one to say this, but reading aren't going to chase heavy metal acts much anymore, because their market has changed. The reason why they book people like "Eminem, MCR, Kasabian and 30 seconds to mars" Is because that's where the money is at.

Reading is trying to change, shockingly or not I think the only (metallish) act we'd get is metallica because of the "5 year thing" people go on about.

Basically what i'm saying is stop suggesting "Rammstein, Iron Maiden, Slipknot, Slayer & Anthrax". Because I really don't think reading will book them unless they decide that metal does have a place.

I'm not hating on metal, I bloody love it. I just think that metals days at reading are coming to an end, It's all about eminem, mumford and sons and the vaccines.

I would agree with you but, there is always a but. They cant play download every year can they? Apart from bloodstock there is nowhere else they can play in the uk.

He's making an exaggeration but the point still stands. With Biffy being a heavy (or heavier) act, and SOAD, BMTH, FOB and Deftones all (probably) taking top 4 main stage slots there can't be that much more big name heavy stuff to come, and certainly not another headliner.

Last year the heaviest acts in the top 9 main stage slots were Foo Fighters and Paramore, then three 4th slots (YMAS, Shikari and BFMV)

Biffy, SOAD, BMTH, Fall Out Boy and Deftones fills this quota quite nicely

EDIT: I didn't realise I was talking about 2014 line up xD the first bit's still relevant so I won't delete it

It's simply incredible how badly timed this post was. :P

Good points made though.

To be fair The Black Keys won't headline unless their next record is similar to or surpasses the popularity of El Camino, I'd love them to though.

As for QOTSA, their next album will have to be massive in order for them to gain a headlining slot, personally I think they've reached the pinnacle of their popularity.
