Biggest Crowd

Does anyone know what band/artist has attracted the largest crowd at Glastonbury in recent history? I read somewhere that Levellers pulled in a huge crowd in '94.

Snoop Dogg certainly got a huge crowd for an act playing half way through the day in '10.

There was 200k at Bowie apparently after the fence came down.

I think U2 will pull in the biggest legit crowd ever. 120k minimum I reckon. People who don’t even like them are saying they’re going just to soak up to atmosphere.

Stevie last year was unlike anything I've ever experienced. Got there late post LCD Soundsystem, and it was solid people all the way to the back. I was stood in the camp sites at the back.

Agree with The Nal on U2. It's going to be an enormo crowd

I wouldnt say the biggest but...

a couple of years ago Amy Winehouse had a big crowd, I only realised how big when we left half way through to see Hot Chip on the other stage. On the way from Amy there was hardly any one about and coming over the last bridge to the other stage I thought something was wrong, as the field was nearly empty, it was like a Wednesday afternoon

When we got to where we could see them (near the flags), we could also see The Pigeon Detectives on the queens head, there was absolutely no one at all between the 2 stages, really strange.....but that might say more about hot chip & the pigeon detectives :D

I was right at the back next to the ice cream van for Stevie, and the sea of people in front of me was just unbelievable. It didn't look like there was a single space free in the entire field, made the performance even more special. Going for a wizz felt like travelling to Mordor and back.

If I'm remembering things correctly, at the point that Rolf Harris played the Pyramid in around 2003, that was the biggest crowd there'd ever been up-to that point for a Pyramid act.

Personally I thought Florence and The Machine last year must have had biggest ever Other Stage

crowd , it was rammed back to the railway for her !

nah, it wasn't that full - I walked around the crowd there while she was singing screeching, and there wasn't a huge amount of difference with the crowd size to at other points over the weekend.

I also walked along the railway track a bit later in her set, and strangely there was quite a few people stood on there to get an elevated view. This was when she was doing 'The Chain', and I can't believe those people's ears weren't hurting. Mine definitely were.

Neil I would be surprised if Rolf had more people than Bowie.

Post fence SNAFU I'm pretty sure the biggest crowd ive seen was Stevie last year.

U2 will at least match Stevie. Ollan's prediction of 100K+ is far from exhaggerated.
