Pretty sure I've been to the festival more than all those that have thus far contributed to this thread and I don't share the sentiment about the line up, already plenty I'd like to see and that list will massively fill out. As ever there were some acts hoped for which have played before and would have delighted others, but I'd have just shrugged at, so I don't pine for them. I come from the olden days when there were two stages for and many of the acts on the second one were not well known. Also there were often some acts on the Pyramid who had played before.5 points

I always await the poster knowing that there won't be that much that is for me outside of The Park and Woodsies. But, this year, I probably have more on this poster than many other years! I'm as excited as ever and, more importantly, like a child on Christmas Eve in anticipation of the heady mayhem of the area drops. Truly my favourite time of the year! Ben4 points

I mean, apart from Sam Smith and maybe Fred Again, none of current headliners are actually headliner material. Some other year they would definitely be subs (or they were subs and haven't actually gained that much popularity since) so, having a "headliner" such as Raye or Charli would be totally in line with this year's lineup, which shows you how weak this lineup really is4 points

Been 8 times. Am 55. I love your excitement. I feel it too and absolutely love helping my sons' friends get tickets to Glastonbury (in their 20s) they have a massive contingent going this year. They are ridiculously excited to be going. So am I. Bloody love that place.2 points

I've been twice (2016 and 2019) and me and my group, none have been more than twice, and we're all hugely excited and feel privileged to be going. This was increased by the first poster drop and am looking forward to the area announcements and the map etc. The magic of anywhere/thing is bound to drop if you experience it on a regular basis, the odd change will only delay it getting fully boring but it will never be as good as the first 1 or 2 times you experienced it. For every 10 people on here that's been multiple times and are feeling a little underwhelmed there's 10 people who've either never been or only been once or twice that are hugely excited.2 points

Ah yes, the Lenor/Comfort bottles - For when you need to 'freshen some laundry' in a crowded festival field after 5 pints of cider... If the grapevine was accurate we harvested 20 wheelbarrows of 'refilled' drinks containers from the Pyramid field the morning after Elton. Perhaps that's why he's called Elton John ! 🎵 "...Well I guess that's why the call them the loos..." 🎵2 points

If the Silver Hayes line up is as good as last year, honestly couldn’t give two f**ks about the rest of the line up.2 points

Please consider supporting this important fundraiser. Annie Maw, from Pilton, will be attempting to climb the Tor in her wheelchair on Saturday May 4th. A huge challenge. She is raising funds for two charities, focused on disability and humanity & inclusion (Gaza, amongst others), details below. Anyone who can make the event is very welcome to come along. It’s organised by FMS and I’m doing the video on their behalf. Further details to follow. Thanks also to @eFestivals for allowing this post.2 points

I worked out that there was more than half the acts announced that I certainly wouldn't object to seeing so I am right there with you in my glass half full status. After some rubbish news recently I count as a positive the fact that I am well enough to go and enjoy dancing away on that wonderful farm.2 points

Yep. It’s the London Grammars and Bombay Bicycle Clubs of the line up which are causing the stench.2 points

There have certainly been changes in several areas, as outlined above. Some like them others less so. As for the festival itself, plenty of folks are very hyped for it and that's before the individual stage posters kick off during the next week or two (based on previous years). If you're not feeling it, then you should look into your heart 😊 And we definitely shouldn't be having speculative discussions about MEs health, it's a touch crass imho2 points

I'd argue one of the main changes that GFL need to make is that they need to learn to say "No" to Joe Rush.2 points

I think that Justice set was an example of perfect place and time. Closing West Holts in the year when the sound quality for that stage went stratospheric (still my favourite of the main stages by far, when they get it spot on), everyone was rejuvenated at the end of five days and nights full gas, with a euphoric dance set. The, mostly white, light show was spectacular (only bettered for me by Bicep in 2022) and everyone was totally up for it. How much of any live dance set like this is genuinely being played/manipulated live by the artists is open to debate, but it was amazing. I may well go and see them again this year, but I'm slightly put off by the idea of trying to recreate something that we've already had 'exactly the same' - same day, stage and slot - not that many years ago. However, looking at my Sunday headliner options (in fact, all my headliner options for Fri-Sun 😄), I will more than likely be with a gang of friends dancing to Justice. Will be very interested to see what the new record is like in a couple of weeks. Ben2 points

The effect of covid losses and rampant inflation - many areas had their field budgets frozen. Don't forget lots of festivals have gone out of business since 2019 - staying alive trumps innovation during these tough times. But that said, we did get The Levels and all new Silver Hayes.2 points

I would say Silver Hayes last year was big! Tbe levels was a big announcement. Lots of buzz around what will Arcadia be this year.2 points

Just booked tickets for Heilung’s show local to me in November. Mrs Moth does not have Glasto ticket, I won’t have clash problems, could see them twice. It’s a win win win situation.2 points

I can't tell you how utterly depressing I find this picture! For me this is just about the antithesis of everything I want when I go out dancing 🤪. Ben2 points

its not enough names. the insta is maybe a bit confusing, but the newsletter said that its not all and the poster with all the bands has some dots on it. 46 acts from wednesday to sunday at the moment, last year they had 23/24 per day on the non-billie days.1 point

Agreed I have to bite my tongue when people get frustrated there is not a big legacy act on the poster. It definitely triggers me a little. Very small pool of acts like this that could even be in consideration . Should be considered a big positive when they can score on of them. But should not count against the festival when they cant. .1 point

Yeah insane this - thought exactly the same I didn't watch it all but you skip to one more time coming in after 1h20 of IDs and nobody could care less 😂 i'd be going taps aff1 point

I totally agree that to stay in business and relevant is huge. I will be absolutely buzzing in the build up there is no doubt. It just feels a tad flat at the moment1 point

last row should be Tinlicker + NTO + Nyla. Didn't know about Nyla tbh: https://open.spotify.com/artist/4VZY0nxYMSNotbS7WjNVQy?si=_V961pQsTLmzOGRYpXWa0Q&nd=1&dlsi=f1ce2e4115c441d71 point

I have used the Accessible Facilities since 2011, you will need to register with the Accessible Team to do this - further information on registering can be found here - https://www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk/information/access-information/ New this year (proof of your disability is required) you also have to register with Nimbus and obtain either a Nimbus Card - £15 for 3 years or a Nimbus Glastonbury Pass which is free. further information can be found here - https://www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk/information/access-information/registering-to-use-the-accessible-facilities-onsite/ ***The deadline for Access Applications is the 30th April 2024, however I would recommend people submitted these earlier to avoid missing out on facilities. And a reminder that the access facilities are not for people with temporary impairments such as broken bones, healing wounds or woman who are pregnant. Unfortunately, the Festival cannot offer closer parking, reserve camping or assistance getting on/ off and around the site to people with temporary impairments. Happy to answer any questions about the facilities offered, Spring Ground campsite or East Accessible Campervan Area as I have stayed in both. I have also volunteered in the Accessible Marquee with Oxfam Festival Stewards. 😊1 point

Songwriters - just like authors, filmmakers etc - are capable of creating characters and embodying their perspective. Obviously there are plenty of examples of singers taking real-life heartbreak and singing about it but just because a song contains a lyric doesn't mean that the singer actually thinks that. I would argue that the best songwriters are those who are capable of writing from a perspective other than their own. Really feel like the culture today has a huge problem with understanding that portrayal does not equal endorsement.1 point
