  1. I think we're in with a genuine chance of the poster from Tuesday onwards. 1. They'll have finished pushing the ETC. 2. Emily saying full line-up at "the beginning of the year." 3. That weird line that was left on the end of the RIP Joe Bananas story. 4. Page monitors have been showing lots of activity in the last week.

  2. Paid the rest of the glamping charges, so that's the flights, the accommodation and the tickets now secured.

  3. I don't think anyone is especially fixated on the cost, more on the fact that it's a climbdown from the original pledge. Speaking truthfully, I think the main reason it gets such airtime in this thread is that you've staunchly denied that it's a climb down or that the policy has been watered down, and people find that frustrating because they feel like it very much is a climb down. There is a social psychological theory called 'reactance' (also known as the boomerang effect) which says when someone takes a strong stance on something (let's use unconditional, critique-free support of a political party as an example) and expresses that stance to others, it often has the unintended consequence of making people strongly take the opposite stance to assert their own freedom of thought (in this case insisting that the political party has done something wrong, even if they fundamentally agree with the principals of that party and support them). Guess what happens when that reactionary opposite stance is expressed? You guessed it, the original expresser doubles down on their stance and the merry dance continues over and over again. This thread in a nut shell.

  5. Where have you got this information from, or is it just a guess? I suspect we will get an anouncement by the end of the month. Not sure if you class this as 'far away' or not. I don't think we should stay modest at all. The first announcement didn't hit the spot for many of us (way too many 'unknown' names). That was the modest announcement. The next announcement needs to show a significant improvement to even begin to compete with other August festivals. Reading and Leeds has just managed it with their second announcement. There are enough decent acts touring in August to do this. If the bookers at Sziget can't get them, then maybe they need to consider why that is and get it sorted.

  6. Don't know if New Order can be billed as a heritage act but Music Complete is one of their best records.

  8. OK then scrub the two extra places my missus got. Knock my ones off as well at that above time. I still got in on before the big drop on another 4 separate occasions for friends and family. Luck or dedication ? Whoever I was trying for I was making sure I wasn't logged out of their Oxfam account when possible to make the process as quick as possible. I had my phone on me at all times (Got one whilst walking the dogs on their lead) Paid page checker (Distill) Hundreds of false alarms with other festivals. At one point there was a slight pattern on the hour of places coming up if I remember correct. Just passing my advice on for those who will be going down that route this year.

  9. Page checkers for Oxfam Stewards will only alert you if you are signed in to your Oxfam profile. I would recommend checking that you are still signed in every few hours. I believe the alert occurs if any of the festivals has a change wether it's places becoming full or places becoming available. I have used Google Page Monitor successfully on my laptop (I have it set to make a cuckoo sound 😂) in the past to obtain an Oxfam place for a friend at Boardmasters + Glastonbury campervan passes. You must set the frequency of the checks to the shortest possible time! Good luck! 😊

  11. There was an amazing karaoke bar micro venue in Shangri La one year.. had a great time there. Loved Minuscule Of Sound, if you stayed too long the bouncers came in and made you feel uncomfortable til you left 😂 One of my favourites was a tiny old caravan which had a 4 or 5 piece band squeezed into it with a big front window and a keypad on the outside so you could type in your choice of songs on the jukebox.. I think we selected Beastie Boys Sabotage, the band absolutely rocked!

  15. Don’t really know if you can call it a micro venue but we’ve had some of our most peaceful and truly Glasto moments in recent times in Strummerville. Great tunes and lovely company and conversation.

  16. I've always imagined the crazy idea of releasing an act a day. Blanked out/ misted over acts on poster that slowly get revealed through the year. Gives them all their moment for 24 hours. But I guess where do you start? What stage is too small etc? Cos you can't have everyone, not enough days in the year. I know wouldn't work but imagine.....

  21. I think people can genuinely see through when a band is stitched together and made to conform to a certain sound. This band came out 2 years ago and were all over TikTok and YouTube. It turned out some of the members ha worked with Dr Luke before (producer of Doja Cat, Kesha, Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, Jessie J and Rihanna. Allegedly was extremely abusive to Kesha when they were recording). Fantano goes into it here. They got backlash for pretending to be an authentic punk band despite clearly being pushed onto things like Spotify's New Music Friday. The Last Dinner Party genuinely seem to have come together as an actual band, toured together then got scouted and are now being pushed by their label. Of course the label is going to push a band they've signed. What would make them seem inauthentic if they were making TikTok friendly pop/dnb in the vein of PinkPantheress/ Piri/ Kenya Grace and their album was full of features by Clairo and Beabadoobee.

  25. Nope. It’s backed up my points, the green policies are still there, they haven’t been scaled back. Sorry to disappoint you but Labour still have strong green policies in place.
