It's good this thread. Incredibly helpful. Gives me some definite indications of who I should never ever accept a lift from.

I can send you some copies of mine if you like? Save you getting in the car.

12 albums will be difficult but bollocks I'll give it a go:

Tool - Lateralus

Tool - Aenima

Pink Floyd - Dark Side

Pink Floyd - Wish you Were here

Bob Marley and the Wailers - Legend

Porcupine Tree - Fear of a Blank Planet

Steven Wilson - Hand. Cannot. Erase.

Led Zeppelin - IV

Guns 'n Roses - Appetite for Destruction

The Verve - Urban Hymns (I prefer A Northern Soul as a one off listen but for repeated listens would choose this anytime)

Radiohead - Hail to the Thief

Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of HG Wells' The War of the Worlds

Or something to that effect

My other half has shit taste so she can keep her 4 album quota :P

I would like to hereby remove Steven Wilson (sorry Steve) and add Yes - Close to the Edge in his place.

how that isn't on my first list I don't know. I blame my disability syndrome.

Interesting choice. I was obsessed with Prayer (Oh Doctor Jesus) when I was younger.

Miles has such a plethora of great records, it's too hard to pick one. I've been diggin' right into Sketches of Spain recently tho.

Most of these are in my favourite ever albums top 10, but if you are on a desert island, I want a bit of variety, so dropped a few. Appitite for Destruction, Dark Side of the moon and Parallel Lines could have all made it:

My list:

Definitely Maybe - Oasis

Songs in the Key of Life - Stevie Wonder

The Prodigy - Jilted Generation

Ok Computer - Radiohead

Different Class - Pulp

Back in Black - ACDC

Sign O The Times - Prince

Neon Bible - Arcade Fire

The Queen is Dead - The Smiths

Honky Dory - Bowie

Play - Moby

Gatecrasher Red

Yeah he's got some real gems. I don't know if you'd call it his best or his most important, but Porgy & Bess is definitely the one I'd want with me on this hypothetical island.

It also means that I Loves You Porgy features twice on my list: once by Miles Davis and once by Nina Simone.

Good album ain't it? Still kickingmyself it weren't on the first list.

Man I take lists far too seriously.

Ps: 9. Pablo honey

I love em all, sometimes no.1 is Close to the Edge sometimes it's Fragile, quite often The Yes Album.  I always say when senility finally kicks in someone should put all Yes albums on and I reckon I'll still know every word so deeply embedded they all are.  Mind you I was 12 when I started buying Yes albums. :D
