2027 Headliners

Yeah I'm not sure about that new tune, to be honest.

Even without that - I really like them, followed them since before Innerspeaker, but they just don't strike me as Glastonbury headliners.

Could be wrong, but I don't see it.

I love Tame Impala but have to agree im not sure quite headliners.  The set they played on the Other Stage (it was before or after ALt J i Cant remember)  when they were touring Lonerism was incredible.  (personally i massively prefer the first two albums to any of the more recent ones)

I think they would be goos in the Sub=Headline slot again - with a bit of sunshine.

Bit like Foals, shoulda headlined 2027, now they never will

Above Radiohead, Foos or even Ed lol, where Biffy should still have been fiven that slot. Not a chance after that what went down album either. They then continued to fall further. The point that headlined Other in 2022 5 years later suggests there is no weight at all to that suggestion.

How about Gorrilaz for a 27 headliner looks like album is coming the end of this year.

For the Other Stage maybe.

Feels like the moment for the Pyramid has been and gone - and even at the time was a stretch and not a huge success.

What's weird is that my two favourite Foals albums are their 2019 Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost double. And the tour for that album still dabbled in arenas and headlined minor festivals like Truck. Bu I do agree the time of Foals headlining the Pyramid needed one of those two albums to have a big hitter. Even WWD, for all that seems to be implied by this post as a "This is where it went wrong" album, had What Went Down and Mountain At My Gates.

Did they sell out All Points East a few years ago? Cos if they didn't do that, then that feels like a sign their Glastonbury bill-top moment may have been & gone.

I was surprised at Foals getting the spot they did at Reading in 2023.

What Went Down was probably their peak as far as how big they were. And they got the co-headline gig at Reading which was definitely short of the standalone.

The idea of them headlining any major at any point doesn't wash for me.

Surely Holy Fire was their peak.

Aside from that, don't think they'd get another chance after 2010... it wasn't well received. Sure, it was 15 years ago, but even so...

Depends what metric we're measuring.

Hell, I think the two Everything Not Saved... albums in 2019 are Foals' best two albums, but am aware they didn't create a big hit akin to Holy Fire or even What Went Down's two main singles.

Isn't there the ridiculous stat that no band who has ever headlined the Other Stage has ever gone on to headline the Pyramid?

Basement Jaxx did but only as replacements, so don't count imo.

only one I’ve seen is The Prodigy headlined the other the year before doing the pyramid.

Dua Lipa was due to headline the other in 2020 but something happened that year.

    • Wednesday is a nice addition imo
    • Kronenberg in a tent as well IIRC but Brooklyn Pilsner was easier to get without queueing and was everywhere across the festival.
    • I think they'll end up doing something due to pressure and bad PR. Maybe they do a discount code for next year or bar credit or something along those lines.    I agree though. I acknowledge that the lineup is huge but surely you can't cancel 33% of the headliners and not reimburse in some way. Their insurance will probably cover their fees for MA, Doja, Bad Gyal and Mac DeMarco due to force majeure.
    • Looks like nothing for weekend ticket holders. You'd expect a goodwill gesture.
    • Enough has been covered about how much of a sh*t show that was, so I'll just say, Massive Attack and it's relationship with this festival (and potentially me) are f**king cursed.    They were announced in 2020 when I first got excited about seeing them. They were subsequently on the poster for 21, 22 and now 26. This time I was in actually in the crowd close to the stage waiting for them twice haha. I give up!
