The main surprise from that article for me is Glass Animals being mentioned in an article from 2018. Genuinely thought they didn’t become well known until 2-3 years ago when Heat Waves went massive

Edit: it's been debunked. JT has exclusive Spanish date elsewhere

Think I heard it's on the Plaza de Espana in Seville? Which caught me a little by surprise given I went there and didn't realise it was a venue for gigs, although watching YouTube of Green Day and Take That playing it proved me wrong.

I was there and I definitely recall being on a train back from IFEMA to the city centre after the festival full of these Scottish blokes who'd been waiting for Massive Attack only for them to never turn up going "f**k Massive Attack bunch of w*nkers and posh c**ts" for pretty much the whole train ride.

Take it they weren't impressed by saying the sound bleed issue from Franz Ferdinand was too much. Not that I was there for it given I had been at Franz and was amused by Alex Kapranos instigating an invasion of the VIP block out front.

So it's also there, I went in to that stage for Goat Girl and there was a little sound crossover but not the worst I've ever heard.

That Franz Ferdinand gig was great. Almost broke my neck trying to jump the VIP barrier after several jugs of Mahou

Calling Massive Attack is posh is amusing, given they came from the streets and have dedicated their career to being anti-institutional activists.

Massive Attack embody the term liberal elite... Great band whose political leanings I tend to agree with, but they're definitely not "street" Hahaha

If that was the case they would have anticipated or teased the announcement  more than two hours in advance

This seems rushed, wouldn't expect much

I think I am inclined to agree but MC have a habit of being the worst communicators possibly in the festival world, wouldn't surprise me have they end up having the best line up of the Summer next year. Equally, it wouldn't surprise me if they've been scrabbling around trying to cobble a line up together and scraping over the line.

They can only book what is around though, be interesting to see what they have managed to secure. I think they probably likely had Foo Fighters and have been scrambling round for a replacement since. Think ORod seem nailed on, probably KoL too.

    • Either or. They both play the same venues.

    • Interesting to read. It's mostly why we stopped going a few years back even though it's the nearest big festival to home. The post-exams timing and location makes it a rites of passage first festival for people in a big area. Understandably that leads to a bit of giddiness. Think lineup would need to be a lot more my cup of tea to be enticed back. Friends who are there are having a good time tho and no rain is a good thing for up there.
    • I honestly didn't know it had, I still thought it was where the view overlooked the lake and view.   I think my decision not to attend this year at least was justified. Biffy was the big draw but after Finsbury I knew they wouldn't play what I want to hear again and well work also got in the way. Believed interesting to hear if Libertines were any good as they were also a pull but Sunday did nothing for me really with all my acts on Friday and Saturday.
