No matter who you are you can only book what is available.

True, but I thought that many popular artist would be happy to perform at the number one spot of UK festivals. Is there some economics going that makes popular artists reluctant to perform at Glasto?

Well Glastonbury famously pays well below the standard rate for festival headliners, lost a sh*t ton of money having to cancel in both 20/21, and has basically had every huge artist play over the last fifteen or so years (outside of those that simply aren’t budging) so was always inevitable that the well would run dry eventually and the headliner bookings would become slightly less spectacular, or at least not year on year solid gold.

That makes sense

All true, but still in 2024 we're talking about 4 massive potential headliners and 3 decent potential legends!

I think we'll be alright for a few more years.

Indeed.

Coldplay headlined 2002, 2005, 2010 and 2016.

So the rate they're returning at is slowing down.

Only in terms of years, not festivals. No festivals in 18, 20 & 21 remember.

So it'll have only been 4 festivals since they last played.

Nope, originally Dua Friday, Coldplay Saturday, Madge Sunday. We now know Dua is Saturday so something has shifted, most likely Stevie’s availability causing it.

Do we?

Or are we just assuming because someone on the internet said so?

Exactly!  We know nothing.

And as for second guessing Stevie Wonder's availability - we don't have a clue what he's been up to since 2019 so to say he must be busy on Sunday 30th June 2024 is a quite a leap.

And equally. If Dua is indeed Saturday, do we know that Coldplay are Sunday? That part especially seems to be an assumption.

Well Dua was apparently planned for Friday originally so why would her and Coldplay (presumed Saturday originally) switch if the Sunday was open for Stevie already? This is all based on the info we got for the original running order and why Dua would now be Saturday, mind, so if you’re inclined to believe that running order was never a goer to begin with then yeah, Stevie Friday and Coldplay Sunday makes less sense, but I’m working off the bits of info we’ve had here and there.

Quote

Round like a circle in a spiral, like a wheel within a wheel
Never ending or beginning on an ever-spinning reel
Like a snowball down a mountain or a carnival balloon
Like a carousel that's turning, running rings around the moon
Like a clock whose hands are sweeping past the minutes of its face
And the world is like an apple whirling silently in space
Like the circles that you find
In the windmills of your mind
