Sounds like they were booked for Reading, so that would likely rule them out.

I mean it's not going to be him regardless, but I wouldn't have thought he'd be so fussed on the fee - the pedigree of the other acts that have done it wouldn't be lost on him.

Green Day are doing Download and they have paid a lot for exclusivity.

 

It was also announced this week that they are headlining Tinderbox on the Saturday of Glastonbury weekend and they are already booked to headline Tons of Rock on the Thursday and a show in Luxemburg on the Monday. They haven't done three shows in a row since pre Covid. Not happening.

Yeah - I'm aware of the main reasons for them being discounted (albeit not the 'paid a lot for exclusivity' element).  Just spitballin' other potential names in the frame.

Until the Tinderbox announcement, I thought that the possibility of them doing this was increasing. But yeah, it's gone in the bin now.

‘‘Twas a heck of a day. Even if The National played to a small, disinterested crowd. Had Mark Thomas doing a set about his book walking the Israel-Palestine barrier in the morning too followed by Daniel Sloss and Tom Stade. 
 

Come to think of it, that was a brilliant day.

I didn't realise Elton and Billy Joel did shows together tbf. But the public falling out after they finished their co-tours in 2010 hints good mates isn't quite the phrase to use anymore.

Fortunately this has no chance of happening. Worst overall set of headliners they could book. Olivia also can't do Friday by all counts.  Cave had about 200 people watch him before Mumford haha

Same, immense where we were and excellent crowd. One of the best days of my life, a splendid 24 hours of debauchery and my first time seeing them after years of waiting!

Saw them in Glasgow, 1998 on the face to face tour.

One of the worst gigs I've been to, for the same reason.

 

I've had enough rants about that though, so I'll leave it there. Lytham the other year made up for it, that was special.

 

Would it kill them to do something outside of these sporadic $$$ dates though? 🥲

All I remember about the strokes was they sounded OK and then Pulp came on and made them look extremely average.
