2025 Headliners

Is that confirmation of Olivia for the 27th being busy or July 4th?

To be honest I think we all guessed that Charli is going to play one of those slots. Normally I would say one of these slots would rule out of returning to headline in the future but I'd say that's changed recently. I fully expect if she wasn't a wrongun that Lizzo would have returned to headline, I would expect LDR to get the opportunity if she wasn't stupidly late and Little Simz recently. I'm not going to include Sam Fender as he got a bump due to a pull out. So the last 3 years really, I dare say Geroge Ezra was thought of with a trajectory as one point. Regardless of what's been said I don't see Idles ever doing it. I'd say that puts Charli as a second down act at Reading.

Festivals look like a potential dying breed when it comes to the major one's, it won't be worth the cost of many of them if they can't get in the top headliners. Ultimately with how many artists are able to sell their tickets for these days it's becoming enough to keep bands out of festivals.

27th

If it was down to me, I'd give Charli that Friday headline slot this year. She's never been as big as she is right now, and her current live show blows any other suggested contender out of the water imo.

I completely agree on festivals. Somehow, you've got artists which look to have the ceiling of arena-filler, by the standards of pre-covid announcing stadium shows. I don't understand how the f**k we have ended up in a world where Catfish and the Bottlemen have multiple stadium shows scheduled to happen in less than 12 months.

That's enough for me as I don't believe you have a poor rep on here, Olivia Saturday it is provided she's playing. That leads me think they are on the path of probably Fender, Olivia and Stevie/Rihanna currently.

I wouldn't give Charli it, I don't think she's got the material if if she's got the show but I can see her getting the sub Pyramid slot. Being at her biggest doesn't make her a headliner mind.

I could definitely see a sub trio out of 3 of Charli, Yungblud, Noah Kahn and Biffy with the one that isn't playing other. I know tickets went onto tickets for good in the end but I don't forsee am act that has been booked to play MK Bowl and it wasn't the dearest tickets meaning they won't cost the earth to book, playing lower than sub equivalent.

I think Glastonbury will start to die off if I'm honest, you've got acts that can sell tickets for £75 that would play sub or even 3rd down Glastonbury just for example paying them 150k at a guess for a show. These promoters will just get them to play their own shows and Glastonbury and likes will become just another gig.

Yeah safe to assume it’ll be Fender / Rodrigo / Stevie, Rihanna or another unmentioned name.

Subs and other headliner will be between Charli XCX, Chase & Status, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Yungblud, Jack White, Biffy Clyro & RAYE I reckon. Possible outside shouts of Sabrina Carpenter, Elbow and Vampire Weekend but not sure if they’ll give sub to any of those acts.

Eminem and Fred Again both still within contention to headline at this point, imo.

Also plenty of other possible subs/Other headliners. Massive Attack, The Prodigy, The Chemical Brothers, Noah Kahan. It's not that closed off yet.

Yeah, Fred possibly but it feels like Fenders time. Would Fred go down that well as a main headliner, I’m not sure. I feel they may want to play it safe this year after the whole SZA thing and I think Fender, Olivia & Stevie or Rihanna is that. Just can’t see Eminem doing anything unless it’s for the money, it’s always been that way so I’d be surprised if that changes. Get the feeling that could be the same with Rihanna too.

I doubt The Prodigy will be in for one of those slots as it looks as if they’re doing the Kendal/Victorious shows. Don’t Massive Attack just do those solar power shows now? I suppose Chems could do it and I’d love it but I think C&S seems like the obvious dance act to play other stage next summer. Forgot about Noah Kahan, I’d imagine he’s pretty likely.

I think Massive Attack would still do Glasto - its got good enough eco credentials

Chems aren't touring live

I think that’s massively underestimating the mainstream appeal of Fred, if you think he could go down like SZA!

Oh I think he’d go down well, I just think Fender is a safer option and is around so I don’t see why he wouldn’t do it.

For me Eminem comes back every 4 or so years to cash it and that's his game. I don't know why he would have ever seen Glastonbury as a big deal for him or have anyone connected to follow footsteps so to speak apart from Snoop Dog.

hes got a loyalty card for the local travel lodge

It would be well attended enough - but definitely not actually busy

This is interesting as the 21 year old would definitely see Fred but can't name a single Fender track. But maybe thats the difference between 21 and 25-30 which is the vast bulk of the population (except on Sunday)

Totally agree … mates of my age gave him good reviews from other stage so I’d likely give him a go … has he started in that photo above … odd number of people looking the other way if he has ... edit correction a few look like they are leaving

It looks like the photographer has caught a group of 10 doing the 'excuse me, sorry, sorry' conga shuffle in a diagonal line to go somewhere else!

Had further confirmation of Olivia today.

Charli is also not an exclusive to Reading and Leeds. She will be elsewhere - This date will not rule her out of Glasto and will likely increase the chances of a Glasto slot.

Based off this other festival, if she is at Glasto, I would bet she's got either an Other headline or Pyramid sub, probably earmarked for a bump to Pyramid headliner if they have to hit the panic button.

I think 2025 is going to be a defining year for UK stadiums. I'm not sure I'd bet on one thing I've heard, but if I did, and it came true, bitch better have my money!

(Not something I posted on here but this is the same source that told me about Oasis a month before it announced)

@mufcok was the other act Rihanna???

I'd genuinely rather gave George Ezra than Fender and I'd have Fred over Fender. He's just Bruce light and not very good isn't he.

Well, that’s your guess.

At this point hardly anyone had seen him as he was impossible to see + earlier on against Royal Blood

He'd be competing with 4 stage headliners + lots of dancier people going to SEC early / for other dj options.

It would have a fine crowd, i'm not debating that - but bigger than say Dua Lipa (a fairly big but nothing crazy crowd) seems unlikely!

@K2SO can you say anymore on what your source knows/has on that… erm… subtle Rihanna reference? I also heard something which I hadn’t mentioned on here due to insufficient evidence (a friend of a family member bf works at Universal/EMI).

Thanks for elaborating! 🙂

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, but instead of playing their own material, it's a covers show of would-be headliners, Bullseye-style, for two hours.

Plays it straight down the middle with For Those About to Rock (We Salute You), slows Disturbia to a crawl, falls into the front row of the crowd for Superstition and then encores with a fifteen-minute version of Celine Dion's A New Day Has Come while Warren Ellis swings from the rafters by his beard.

    • Considering how popular of a booking Scooter have been I think they'd go down well
    • I mean I think unless you are camped in a particular bit which apparently you just get no sleep i feel it would be better setup to travel in from a hotel each day and back. Ah there is so many downfalls to it for me, I think the Download main stage area is so much better and that's coming from me. If you're camped in green to go round all the time and out for lidl and even water is stupid!
    • Did you camp or go for a hotel? I looked into it briefly and seems easy enough to get back to Nuremberg.
