I do think if it’s Olivia and Fred they will try really hard to get an oldie for the final night. Stevie wonder makes sense to me based on the whispers last year.

Agreed on the first part. Question is whether or not Eminem counts as an oldie?

Nah. Logic suggests that if they're doing two up and comers in what you'd call non-traditional genres for headliner, they'll likely want a safer pair of hands for the Sunday. Chucking a hip hop star on would feel like a risk too far in terms of the festival fanbase.

Pure conjecture based on a strategy I don't pretend to understand of course

Dan Nigro’s protégées are taking over the world, get on board or get left behind ✌️

You don't get left behind because you not on-board with it lol.

I've got one of my favourite tours of the last 15 years and even all time going on sale soon so can assure you I'm not getting left behind from anything.

Meh. Pretty weak headliner for me if true. I know others will be happy though.

At 39 (40 by the time the festival starts) I'm not really the target audience though I guess.

Whack The Prodigy on the Other Stage or a decent Indie / Rock act band and that's fine by me.

Im 47 and thought she was great at the Hydro in May

While I tend to agree, Eminem will be the same age next summer as Bowie was when he did his 2000 show.

Don't think the age comes into it. A hip hop headliner is still not the norm for Glastonbury. It tends to be the one that stands out among one or two safer bets, but that wouldn't be the case with that trio

I’m 50 and would be thrilled to see O-Rod headline.

Jay Z sandwiched between KoL and The Verve

Beyonce (not hip hop but seen as a bit risky) after U2 and Coldplay

Kanye between Florence (would have been Foos) and The Who

Stormzy with Killers and Happy Bob Smith

2022 bucking the trend a bit with Eilish and Kendrick, but with the ultimate safe bet of a Beatle

My son (early 30s) turned me on to her music, I'm 53 and absolutely certain that this year's spotify wrapped will confirm that I've absolutely rinsed both albums since then.  Easily the most listened to albums of the last year for me.

I don't think age matters, sometimes music just grabs you.

He’s no spring chicken but I was thinking more in the Madonna/ Stevie/ Bruce area.

Eminem is in that area where he is still releasing albums but no one really cares about them and would be there for his stuff from 20 years ago.  He’s also not so old that he’s likely to die before being able to play within a few years which is a real issue obviously with some acts.

He’s definitely an oldies act now. Whether he’d be what the festival wants alongside the two whippersnappers is debatable.

ORod / Fred / Rhianna

Probably all appeals to the same listener? Pretty boring tbh. Chuffed for Olivia tho she seems really cool.

Surely they look at that and get something a bit different for Sunday? (Going off THE POST, apologies if it’s been discussed in more detail on prev pages it’s the first time I’ve logged in since before the festival this year)

One is pop-punk who took off in 2020, the second is a Male Dance Act, the third is an R&B act who took off in the 2000s. Dont think they’re similar at all.

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
