Sad news that Joe Fagin has passed away.  He sang the theme songs and soundtrack for Auf Weidersehen Pet, my favourite ever tv series.

That's sad.  Weirdly just started rewatching AWP the other day as was one my favourites too.

Runrig were/are massive in Scotland and Europe. He took over as lead singer when Donnie Munro left.  

There was a good documentary about them on Sky Arts.

I recall seeing part of a documentary on Runrig in my youth. I hadn't got a clue who they were, but witnessed footage of very large crowds attending their performances. I thought it odd then that it was odd that they weren't 'mainstream', yet could command such crowd numbers.

Awww, this one is sad. When I was a kid we had this random World Of Roger Whittaker tape I used to play constantly to the annoyance of my parents. Puff the Magic Dragon, Milk Bottle Tops, some song about a nasty spider... I sitll randomly find myself singing about the Big Rock Candy Mountain on occasion.

Tunes that used to be favourites on junior choice, Saturday morning radio!  Puff was made famous by Peter, Paul and Mary.

I was at a funeral last year, the old guy had been in the navy, and this was played as the curtains closed. Very poignant.

I remember singing very different lyrics to Puff the Magic Dragon when I was a kid. Sadly would no longer be considered acceptable.
